JOHANNESBURG -- A lion killed an American woman and injured a man driving through a private wildlife park in Johannesburg on Monday, a park official said.
The attack occurred at around 2:30 p.m. when a lioness approached the passenger side of the vehicle as the woman took photos and then lunged, said Scott Simpson, assistant operations manager at the Lion Park.
"They had their windows all the way down, which is strictly against policy," he said. "The lion bit the lady through the window." The driver then tried to punch the lion and was scratched by the animal.
Park staff quickly chased the lion away from the car and an ambulance arrived promptly. "Unfortunately, she did pass away," said Simpson, adding that the U.S. Embassy had been informed.

Same thing happened in NJ a long time ago
For a brief time, New Jersey had two safari drive-thru wildlife parks. Warner Brothers opened Jungle Habitat in 1972, in West Milford, but closed it four years later.Idiots think bambi is a nature film.Shortly after the park opened, an Israeli tourist visiting in a taxi cab rolled down his window and was mauled by two lions. He survived with serious lacerations.

I have fished where the park used to be. Don’t know the name of the stream but it’s native trout. I was a catch and release poacher. Best spot, behind the Dunkin Donuts off of 23 and Berkshire valley road.
Agreed. Lions do live in the bush. They are predators like Halliburton, or something.

notice when the lion gets up and roars they still don’t roll up the windows...it also looks like the female may be pregnant- which further agitates the situation...
I’m in the horse business. It amazes me how stupid and careless people are around these huge animals. Most have no concept of how dangerous they can be if you are inexperienced or careless.

This reminds me of a horrible incident in Yellowstone about 35 years ago involving bears. A gaggle of tourists was watching a bear alongside the road and some incredibly stupid woman though it would be a good idea to have the bear lick honey off her daughter's hands, so she smeared her kid s hands with honey and puced the kid up to the bear. the bear bit off both of the kid's hands.
LOL! Mr. GG2 yelled at a woman out in Yosemete to quit feeding a bear out in the road. She yelled back to go f himself and when she turned around the bear beach slapped her and she flew through the air and landed on the other side of the road. The bear picked up the whole bag of bread and sauntered off.
