A South Florida judge has refused to release the teenage son of a prominent Canadian diplomat on bail pending trial on murder charges.
Circuit Judge Teresa Mary Pooler ruled Wednesday that 15-year-old Marc Wabafiyebazu was too great of a flight risk and would be difficult to extradite if he fled to Canada. He is the son of Roxanne Dube, Canada's consul general in Miami.

"Marc Wabafiyebazu has pleaded not guilty. His mother says she is convinced he is innocent and had insisted she would ensure he remained in the U.S. if released."
He is a good boy and was just putting his life back together. In fact he had recently learned how to pronounce his name. That's a first for the family.

We have very close and friendly relations with Canada and are lucky to have her as a neighbor.However,murder is about as serious as it gets.If the evidence against him warrants a trial vigorous efforts,of course,should be made ensure it's a fair trial.
And yes,if the situation was reversed I could absolutely see why Canada would insist that the son of one of *our* diplomats should stand trial there for such a serious crime.

Harold Ballard was the long time owner of the Maple Leafs..a real character..when the League mandated that the players names be on the back of the uniforms..Ballard objected..he wanted the fans to buy programs..the NHL fined Ballard $10k..or something like that...so he had the names embroidered, in letters about 1/2” high...The NHL DOUBLED the fine..

That wasn’t the way I heard the story. The story I heard is that he embroidered white letters on the back of the white jerseys, so you couldn’t read the names. LOL.

I had gotten tix for the Garth Brooks concert..my girlfriend’s a huge fan..all three shows were cancelled because of the Stanley Cup..half of Tampa is excited, the other half is pissed off..
