The near-certain signing into law of an open-carry gun measure will send Texas back to the days of the Wild West at least legislatively.
The bill, passed by the state Legislature and expected to earn Gov. Greg Abbotts signature within the next week, would reverse a 140-year-old ban on carrying handguns in plain sight. Despite its reputation as a pro-gun state, Texas is one of just five with an outright ban on open carry.

Let the collective foaming o the mouths begin.
It’s about time Texas gets with the program! Kudos to them!
It’s been hilarious watching the verbal foaming on twitter. Search for either #hb010 or #sb11 for the open carry and campus carry conversations.

This is what is known as schaedenfreud - the intense joy that you feel at the bad fortunes of someone you dislike. I love it when the antis foam at the mouth...usually they are wrong about the effects of a law that they don’t like.
Further, they are ALWAYS against laws or regulations that increase (or restore) liberty to the common man - and there is a lesson there for anyone who pays the least amount of attention.
it’s always easy to predict liberals’ reaction especially when it comes to one of the holiest of sacred cows, guns, gun control.
YES!!!
a long time coming...
When I think of this, I think of Virgil Cole and Everett
Hitch in Appaloosa and several other books by Robert Parker
When virgil was offered a job as Marshall, he set up rules for the town. At th top of the list was turn in your guns. I think Wyatt Erp had similar rules in Dodge City and Tombstone.
That is, to maintain order it was first necessary to have gun control.
I have never seen a western where a drunk having his gun taken bitched about his second amendment rights
i think
One more carpet bagger law imposed after the civil war down the drain.
We go after the anti knife laws next.
You know that Texans cannot carry a Bowie Knife?
Almost a sin.
“Critics say the relaxed gun regulations could spur an increase in crime, or at the least, accidental shootings.”
Just as the same lying liars predicted shootouts at every fender bender and wild west shootouts between permit holders over spilled coffee.
They tried this lie in EVERY state as it considered concealed carry. That never happened.
When facts fail, liberals try baseless emotion.
There's little likelihood that I'll trot around with my weapon exposed; that makes little tactical sense.
But, I will enjoy the right to doff my jacket when I feel like it, or to hang it in the back of my vehicle -- without the concern of being in violation of a misguided law when I step outside my vehicle to retrieve it...
Governor Abbott, I salute you!
Wow! Does this mean I will be able to wear my chrome plated Hopalong Cassidy twin shiny six-shooter cap pistols and matching genuine black leather holster I got for Christmas 1952 in public again? Or do I get to wear the real thing now?
Considering my age, I think a pair of chrome plated pistols would look great with my matching black cowboy attire and white hair. If I shave off my beard and dump the white suit and string tie I won’t look so much like Colonel Sanders.
Anyway I aways thought Hoppy was a sharp dressed man. I can just imagine the response I’ll get at the next flower and garden club meeting. And I won’t have to bring the chicken anymore.
Yep. Now it's time for Florida to follow.
Mississippi passed Open Carry much to the chagrin of the Liberals there.
They predicted the Wild Wild West and they ended up with Crickets.
Some Women I know who live there carry a Pistol in their Purse and I don’t think any of them have a Conceal Carry Permit. They just do what their Mama’s always did.
I am hoping it won’t be mandatory open carry. As a woman, there are too many times I would not want to open carry—especially when I’m wearing a dress.
But, but, but, somebody needs to tell the COPS!!!
The “wild west,” like in out of control states like, say, Vermont?
