To the homosexual, their sexuality IS their identity. It’s all they believe they are. Any perceived attack on their sexuality (and free exercise thereof) is an attack on them.
They really do have mental problems. I sometimes wonder if the explosion of homosexuals which occurred in the later part of the 1960s was the consequence of shutting down all the mental health facilities back then.
After the book came out "One flew over the cuckoo's nest", support for involuntary confinement vanished, and a lot of kooks got let out who should have remained confined. Others who should have been confined were never put in these institutions.
