Ted Cruz Closing in on Marco Rubio in Florida
Shark Tank ^ | May 21, 2015 | Nicole Sanders

Posted on 06/10/2015 12:12:50 PM PDT by SoConPubbie

On Wednesday night, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (TX-R) essentially tied Senator Marco Rubio in Florida Family Policy Council’s GOP Presidential Straw Poll in Orlando, Fl.

Marco Rubio got 33.7% of the vote whereas Ted Cruz came in a close second with 30.7%.

Jeb Bush and Scott Walker both came in third-place with 8.9% each, Rick Santorum 6.7%, Rand Paul 4.5%, Ben Carson 3.4%, Mike Huckabee 2.2% and Rick Perry 1.1%.

The other 2016 GOP candidates: Chris Christie, Carly Fiorina, Lindsey Graham, Bobby Jindal and John Kasich didn’t get any votes.

Political analysts have since viewed this poll as a victory for Ted Cruz. They say he is reinforcing the idea that America’s Conservative voters are deciding early who to rally behind.

The Florida Family Policy Council event was moderated by attorney John Stemberger. He provided an examination of individual candidate strengths and weaknesses prior to the straw poll vote. Decision leads included Carl Stevens, Florida Senator Alan Hayes, Sara Johnson, Byran Empric, Karin Hoffman and Pastor Kurt Kelly.

During the event, Senator Alan Hayes was also recognized for his accomplishments and dedication to successfully passing legislation protecting unborn children in the state.

Ted Cruz will create millions of jobs when he is President with the TPA.

Reagan used his trade authority and brought lots of Japanese and other foreign manufacturers to the USA.

Yeah , I was talking to a neighbor of mine about two weeks ago or so about the candidates.

She is an older lady, formerly a resident of Connecticut many years ago, extremely conservative, and her husband even more conservative than she.

She said Jebster was a solid governor of Florida but has since lost his way, and that she was not interested in supporting him. She indicated that she was interested in Walker at the time.

It struck me though to be talking to a lady who was here in FL at the time he was governor, she complimented him, and then says nope not interested. The base just ain’t enthused with him.

I think Little Jebbie has some big problems.

Have you looked Drudge's headline recently???

OBAMATRADE: SECRET IMMIGRATION POWERS FOR PREZ

Discovered inside the huge tranche of secretive Obamatrade documents released by Wikileaks are key details on how technically any Republican voting for Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) that would fast-track trade deals like the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal would technically also be voting to massively expand President Obama’s executive authority when it comes to immigration matters.

REVEALED: THE SECRET IMMIGRATION CHAPTER IN OBAMA’S TRADE AGREEMENT

YOU, SIR, ARE BEING HELD HOSTAGE TO THE OBAMATRADE EVIL!

He is indeed a superstar that has come along at just the right time in America.

Here’s a recent SUPERB speech he gave with an incredible Q&A session especially in the comments he gave to the lady who immigrated LEGALLY to the USA in 1983 and who is really disappointed that she voted republican in last year’s election. It starts at 1:12:45 and it is a KEEPER:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sznh5AjageI

There are so many superb parts of this speech that it should be required listening to listen all the way through. Ted addresses practically every concern or question that has been brought up on FR over the last years.

We need that in transcript form. There are some very important things Cruz says about TPP that people don’t appear to know or think they know something false.

You’re wrong on that. Yes the headline is a sensational one but it won’t pass and it won’t matter, here’s why.

Fast-Track is the same as the Trade Promotion Authority or TPA. It has passed the Senate with Ted Cruz’ amendment to prohibit any violation of standing US Immigration Laws.

TPP is a specific trade deal that has not been voted on and it is kept secret but Ted Cruz has read it.

Drudge is referring to TISA which is a component of TPP and TTIP. All these are specific trade deals that will not pass in their current form. Ted Cruz knows of them and he knows that after TPA is passed, all these other specific trade deals will be viewable for 60 days before an up or down vote is taken.

Bottom line is Drudge is sensationalizing over something that’s already moot. To be clear Obama will have no legal authority to do any kind of backdoor amnesty and so TISA, TPP and TTIP will all have to have the immigration provisions stripped out if Obama uses TPA to negotiate them. And it is near impossible for any of these trade deals to pass without TPA.

TPA is the governing authority document. So Drudge is blowing smoke. But it makes for a nice scare story.

Here’s what Ted has to say directly about TPP/TPA (start time 52:00):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sznh5AjageI

Oh, and Ted Cruz’ anti-amnesty amendment was S. Amdt 1384 to S. Amdt 1221 which passed and is part of the TPA Senate bill. I mention that because there are liars on FR going around saying Ted Cruz’ amendment was defeated. It was not, it passed and is in the bill.

I know I know. Ted may not be able to overcome the fear of Obama and overreaction of the grass roots and no one can blame the grass roots for being fearful and mistrusting of Obama.

Ted is representing his constituents and keeping his promise to Texans that voted for him. Texas and all America will benefit GREATLY with TPA when President Cruz has it for 4 years.

The left and the democrats are hesitant to vote for TPA precisely because they fear Ted Cruz will have it for 4 years and he will use it to create millions of secure high-paying jobs in industries that are owned and operated by persons of Conservatives belief. Example, Oil & Gas is a big one, T. Boone Pickens and on and on. The left is scared to death that TPA will empower Conservatives economically and they don’t want to do that. Where’s the proof of this? It’s here clear as a bell in Warren’s blog:

http://elizabethwarren.com/blog

The only way the democrats will vote en masse for TPA in the House is if backdoor amnesty can help them get 11 million illegals to the polls to vote democrat. But Ted Cruz killed that opportunity for them with his amendment.

So now they have nothing to gain from TPA and they have everything to lose.

As a Cruz supporter Im happy but as a realist Im concerned. Unless Bush is knocked out before the Florida primary all the support for anyone is wasted. We need to win NH, Iowa and SC or its over.

Can you post anything else of substance.

Do you actually KNOW or CARE what he voted for?

You must be a Walker supporter...typical response.

What, does it scare you that Cruz is so strong?

Cruz offered amendments to the deal. Anyone who wants to know, just needs to research. He supported TPA, but has not said whether or not he will vote for TPP until he reads what is in it.

He did not vote because his amendments did not pass and he could not vote for it if his amendments did not pass. But as much as I like and admire him, his amendments would have killed the bill. Many think that would be a good thing but it’s not. Here’s why:

TPA or something like it has been wanted a long long time. To understand why it would be good for America I will give you an example of my own personal experience. I was part of a negotiating team to expand T. Boone Picken’s company Clean Energy which is a Grade A natural gas company. I was involved in negotiating a 10-year deal with S. Korea (Korea Gas Corporation - KOGAS) who are willing to take every ounce of LNG they can get their hands on. I was also working with authorized trade reps in Amsterdam where the Europeans were begging on hands and knees for American exports of LNG so that they could reduce their dependence on Russian energy supplies.

We have AN ENORMOUS surplus of NG that is exponentially growing. We have so much that in the frack fields or more accurately the shale, the NG that comes up with the oil has to be burned off or flared. In other words it is wasted. And yet we could employ millions of people in secure high-paying jobs by converting the NG to LNG and exporting it to countries and regions that are begging for it and at the same time restrain goons like Putin and his Russian mafia family who control much of the Russian oil and gas that is used to torment Europe.

So it’s a big deal and it is only one of many big deals. This is why American conservatives are pushing Ted Cruz to get that TPA now for him because it’s now or never. If Ted Cruz has to wait until 2017 for TPA he will never get it because it will require a new vote and it will require 60 votes in the Senate and the democrats are never going to give enough for 60 votes to hand President Cruz that kind of power that basically empowers conservative industries. It’s all clear as a bell in Elizabeth Warren’s blog elizabethwarren.com/blog.

But my negotiating team faced Obama’s people in FTC who let it be known that it would take 10 years to get an LNG export license. In other words, Obama put the kabosh on all our efforts. Obama doesn’t want Americans exporting much of anything except Climate Change Carbon Trading Credits. And he won’t get that because he will be out of office before it ever gets near finalization but he knew Hillary could get Climate Change if only millions of illegals could get to the polls to vote democrat. Obama lost his gambit which was really centered around backdoor immigration. He’s not so hot for TPA now. He will likely veto TPA when it gets to his desk.

But Senator Sessions proposed his amendments because his Constituents in Alabama put the heat on him to do so. And they’re not wrong but they are overreacting because it was based on EMOTION and FEAR. And the fear was well-justified when the TPA included provisions for Obama to use to force backdoor amnesty. But Sessions informed Cruz who then took care of it.

Ted Cruz says it all right here (begin time 52:00):

How can this be? Some Freepers earlier were saying that Cruz is toast! That he sold Conservatives out and is losing traction. That the supposed poll numbers in early states aren’t good...

How then, can this be the THIRD poll out of Florida that has Cruz either winning or tied?

Go CRUZ!
