“why would Cruz suddenly reverse course on all he believes in to vote for this bill?”
Only reason I can come up with is closed-door meetings and secret this and don’t tell them that - legislating in the dark rather than in public, is mighty heady, powerful stuff. That’s why the closer anyone gets to Washington, the more compromised they become. Just the thought of all that power, of becoming a “royal”, of walking the halls of unaccountability - it changes everyone. You’re in or you’re out. Screw the unwashed masses - they’re just grist for the mill anyhow. Cruz sees his cut in it all if it passes, and what he can do later.
Like all of them. I don’t trust any of them. Rationalizing it to explain what’s happening won’t fix the problem, which is throwing America under the bus of the global dictatorship. Sigh. I liked Cruz.
I understand where everyone is coming from on this issue. it is a divisive one.
but I have to have faith in Cruz on this one. after him, what is left? Paul? Carson? huck?
I hope that if this bill turns out not to be the horror many say it is, they will come back to Ted.
It is a strike against him, but you don’t have to decide who you are going to vote for right now. This bill may die out in the House. Wait and listen to all the candidates. Then choose. Some you can write off right away. But if you liked Cruz before, just wait and see. There are a few worth watching. They will probably all make mistakes.
I like him a little less than I did over this and one other issue which I won’t bring up here. So he moved down my list a little. I’m not writing him off completely yet. Time will tell us more about all of them.
The secrecy is certainly a big problem. If it’s a good thing, why keep it secret from the American people?
