Which is so very odd because I seem to remember Rehm absolutely despising Sarah Palin.

I have a high tolerance level for listening to some lefties. I could handle a couple of hours of Lynn "The Fishwife" Samuels with the ooo-awfuhll-NooYawk accent.

Diane Rehm often sounds very mild, but she saved her vitriol, bitterness and utter contempt for a fellow who was teaching abstience only. After I heard that, I couldn't bear her any more.

NPR socialists put abortion above financial matters. Sanders, socialist as he is, is enough in tune with his voter base to not go for gun control. Vermont, for all its problems, is Constitutional carry, and has been from before there WAS a U.S. Constitution.

Off the topic of Rehm, but ... There was a wonderful comment posted today about how much the Left despises abstinence. "Kids are going to have sex! You can't stop them! Just accept it! There's nothing wrong with it!!!!"

Then along comes Josh Duggar and the Left goes apoplectic. "My God! Why didn't anyone stop him! It's horrible! It's unnatural! It's the worst crime in the history of humanity!"

Sexual morality is hated by the Left. And they drool when they find a Christian who is guilty of sin. Like blood in the water for a shark.

I think Lynn Samuels died? Yes she sounded “nice” but I’ve heard her spout a lot of kooky and dangerous nonsense.

_______

I worked as a lab technician for several years in a chemistry-related field. My colleagues, most of whom held doctorates, listened to NPR all day long in the lab. It was what educated people do, dontyaknow.

Every morning from 10am-noon, I was was forced to endure that contemptible woman’s vitriol, which is disguised as erudite conversation.

I, too, recall her condescending attack on “those who teach abstinence only.” This was in late 2008 or 2009, sometime after Bristol Palin was known to be with child.

Around that time, perhaps before the 2008 election, she made the mistake of inviting Newt Gingrich on her program to discuss a topic (a new policy book, probably).

Gingrich participated for some time, then the show went to a break (or did he hang up??). Newt had departed the interview, and Rehm was furious. She screeched that he had agreed to participate through the half hour, and the remainder of the show she struggled to withhold her contempt of the man.

After the abstinence-related episode, I too could no longer take it. I made a point of scheduling as much work as possible around that time slot.

About a year later, working in a different lab, one of the female chemists walked in and flipped on the radio to Diane Rehm. She told me how much she admired Rehm because of her vocal difficulties. I told her that Rehm was a political hack; she gave me a deer-in-the headlights look and walked away in stunned disbelief. Sigh...
