All about power to them. In 1984, Orwell had O’Brien speak everything that the socialists refused to say:

Those words do sound like they are straight out of the mouth of the prince of this world, do they not. But that is basically what the left is and always has been.

Power is not a means; it is an end

That's what I'm talking about. Raw, honed, all edges and eyes with a gleam so dark people refuse to look at it. It has no time for silly assed talk of possibilities and who blackmailed who; it swallows the stupid in tower sized gulps.

Power. It takes time to put it together but once you own the past you shape the future. People fade in its shadow.
