The American dream is dead, but I will bring it back: Donald Trump announces for President
Daily Mail ^ | 16 Jun 15 | Spargo & Corcoran

Donald Trump is running for president. The multi-billionaire announced his presidential plans today from his namesake tower in New York City. Trump, 69, was introduced by his daughter Ivanka as he formally declared his 2016 intentions, descending down an escalator with wife Melania to speak to the gathered crowd. In his remarks he attacked the Obama administration on everything from immigration and terrorism to Obamacare and the job market as he promised to bring back the American dream. He also released his financial information, revealing a net worth of $8.7billion.

'We need somebody that literally will take this country and make it great again. We can do that,' said Trump. I will be the greatest jobs president God ever created 'Ladies and gentlemen, I am officially running for president of the United States, and we are going to make our country great again.'

As for what he could do for the country, Trump said he would be the 'greatest jobs president God ever created.' He then added; 'The fact is, the American Dream is dead - but if I win, I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before.'

As for Obamacare, Trump called the program a 'disaster.' 'ObamaCare must be repealed and replaced with something far superior and at far less cost,' he said in his remarks.

Trump also put much of the focus of his speech on the issue of immigration.

The fact is, the American Dream is dead - but if I win, I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before. 'It is way past time to build a massive wall to secure our southern border - and nobody can build a bigger and better wall than Donald Trump,' said Trump.

What the US needs is an awakening. If Trump says the correct things and shakes things up, that's good. If he helps hillary beat Jeb, so what? If that's the "choice", we ve lost before the election.

NO MORE being voting fodder for the global elite!

Trump is far more Populist than any of the announced conservative candidates. He is more likely to take votes from Jeb than from them, because he's not a conservative ideolog.

Trump styles himself as an anti-establishment candidate. His populist appeal with take some deluded votes away from conservative alternatives to Bush in the race. So in the end his candidacy, like those of other vanity candidates like Carson and Fiorina, will only help Bush.

I get it that you don't like Trump, but at least be honest about him, his message is right, you just don't happen to like the messenger.

Trump's message isn't right because he doesn't really have a message. He's done a 180 degree about-face on just about every single issue over the years: from pro-gun control to against it, from pro-abortion to against it, from Democrat donor to Republican donor. Will those who like him for what he's saying now still like Trump when the winds blow the other way, and there's more fame and controversy to stir up by posing as a liberal again instead of as a conservative?

While I can think of reasons not to vote for him, if he could convince me he really would bring millions of middle class good paying jobs back to America I would support him. None of the others are going to do anything to bring jobs back.

Me too I am Incapable of imagining anything worse than a Hillary presidency, I suppose somehow that makes me a racist even though I am white and she appears to be also. I wonder sometimes though if she may be a “gray” or a demon.

If he were serious he would have seen what FReepers have seen for 20+ years. He would have funded and campaigned with candidates who believe in the rhetoric he’s spewing today. But he didn’t.

He’s here to hold the mushy TEA Party voters, stop a real conservative from threatening Jeb or Hillary and then drop out a la Perot. That he’s being taken seriously is evidence of the decline.

Right on target. As I said, the people who take him seriously are just grasping at straws - any straws - that offer an alternative to the GOP establishment. I can understand the dreams of a Great White Hope. Donald isn't it. He's in it for the publicity, for a tax write-off, and probably to sink the viable conservative candidates who stand a chance of actually beating Jebbie in the primaries.

"No, he lied about the constitution and treaties by supporting Corker’s Iran bill."

Your contention is absolutely correct.

There is no doubt that bill bypassed the Treaty Clause...even for folks who quibble about trade deals not being "treaty".

Ted Cruz is NOT so stupid as to believe the Iran deal does not trigger Article II, Section II.

Trump is a fraud. He will disappoint you like Perot. How national elections work is via money. If you have a lot of money, like Jeb Bush, but are not very popular with the populist wing of the TEA Party what would you do?

Get a guy who hasn't done diddly to support TEA Party candidates in NY, let alone the country at any level, to run as a populist. Pay him later, just like the Clinton's did with Perot via NAFTA.

Trump's pushing your buttons as if it were an ad campaign. He's a master marketer and your primary vote is his goal, but not to win himself. Capisce?

I Won't Get Fooled Again

Listen to all the lyrics.

You are the reason we have DemoRATs in office. I believe in the sanctity of life, but I would not withhold support on that issue alone. Maybe you can “stay home” again that that’ll show em!

If electing a national savior is so important to you that you would be willing to vote for a pro abortion president, then maybe you should just cheat and vote several times. Democrats do that. That is how they win elections.

My dad worked in the textile industry for his uncle, whomanaged a knitting mill that moved from NYC to escape from the union. I worked in the warehouse during my vacations from school, and I worked in others. So what?

The sewing is tedious, low paying labor, and welfare is more profitable, and the knitting machines were noisy, and boring to operate.

That awakening is already happening. We don’t need Trump and he’s actually working for the establishment and status quo.

The people who are going to forward the awakening are you and I. There isn’t a GWH - Great White Hope. We don’t need another Jesus, but we do need a bunch of active disciples willing to work hard to win.

We need an Army of Davids. See the book..

I would take Trump any day over that huckster Cruz.

Life is not an issue, vette.

Life is a right. There is not voting it up or down. God already voted.

I’m the same way, we have established what we are, now it is just a matter of dickering over price. I will sell out for less than nine billion but I won’t do it for a bottle of Thunderbird. Somewhere in between lies the magic number. Somehow I don’t expect the Donald to call with an offer.
