No, this isn’t the answer to a $15 minimum wage. It’s the answer to having to hire any person for any wage. McDonald’s and other restaurants have been working on automating as much as possible for a long time.
The solution for young folk? Work for the company making those touch screen machines. Write software for them. Repair them. Install them. Whatever. Jobs are there, they just are different jobs than taking orders.

No matter what McDonald’s does the cardboard box they sell their burgers in looks more attractive to eat than the bland burger inside.

Sorry to see Hoft adopt the mindset of the left, which is that businesses have some social function or obligation. The jobs are not ‘for’ anything other than to facilitate McDonalds’ delivery of products that consumers wish to buy whereby McDonalds (hopefully) makes a profit.

Lefties weren’t planning to hire American workers at minimum wage. The were planning to hire illegals paid slave wages under the table.

Even un-perfected, it will still probably get your order right more than the humans do.

Go into a McDonalds..say your total comes to $5.37..you give the attendant a $10 bill.he punches it in..machine tells him how much change to give you. Wanna see something weird, give the guy/gal a $10 bill AND 37 cents in change. I do it all the time, just for fun...most of them look at you like you're from Mars..they have NO idea what to do...you can see them trying to think..the wheels turning..
Somewhat related questions...my local Chic-fil-A..is a joy..great, polite, smart staff....love to eat there..anyone know what they pay by comparison to McDs?

My daughter did a debate in collage on the minimum wage and presented the McDonald kiosks as well as other not so well known facts. She won over many liberals in the class, and they changed their minds about the minimum wage because of her presentation.

"I have kids, 12,14,15 y/o that will need work experience, that will need something to put on a resume. The cash they would earn would be minimal. They already have a home, food, transportation, etc."
I'm convinced that the real purpose for proposals like $15 an hour and more and more support programs is to make sure that people like your kids are kept from ever getting good jobs and making sure that they are permanently dependent on the government and will, therefore, vote Democrat for life.

Don't know what the wage is, but you're absolutely right, the difference in service and demeanor is stark. Folks at Chik-fil-a make you want to come back. McD, not so much.

I hate it when the ketchup is oozing over the edge of the burger. Machines will pretty much guarantee that the condiments will be properly centered. -

What has happened to this country? I worked at a fast food burger joint when I was a teen. I was immediately looking for the next job using the burger joint as a reference. Ditto. I worked at McDs when I was in high school for about 9 months to get some spending money and some experience. As soon as I turned 18 and could work in something better, I did. The second, third, fourth, etc. jobs I had while I was going to college were all well over minimum wage.
