The Terri Schiavo Saga, Continued

Oct. 20, 2003: Gov. Bush files HB 35E, which would become known as “Terri’s Law,” after 8 p.m. It would give the governor the right to issue a one-time stay in a case the facts of which matched identically Terri Schiavo’s. The House passed it within two hours by a nearly 3-1 margin. The Senate passed it by a similar margin the next day.

Oct. 21, 2003: The feeding tube is reinserted.

March 20, 2004: Pope John Paul II says it was the right thing to do.

Sept. 24, 2004: Florida Supreme Court rules “Terri’s Law” unconstitutional.

Jan. 24, 2005: U.S. Supreme Court refuses for the second time to review the case.

Jan. 27, 2005: An opinion piece, written by Gov. Bush’s attorney Ken Connor under the name of then-State Sen. Daniel Webster, appears in USAToday. “By any definition, Terri Schiavo is alive … She has now been issued a death sentence by the courts.”

March 18, 2005: The feeding tube is removed.

When Jeb failed to send in troops to rescue Terri from her murderers, he became one of them.
