There are some pretty interesting additions on witness statements now -- check out the comments on Conservative Treehouse for links to statements from folks coming out. One of them confirms that indeed there were cop cars all over the place BEFOREHAND, and that the bikers who rode "into" the fracas went right past them. From what the witness says, it sounds like the Cossacks, which appears to me to be a pretty benign bunch of guys in a Harley club -- were there waiting, and intended to tell the Bandidos to take a hike, turn around, get out. The cop cars were all RIGHT THERE, all around them. In plain sight. A presence.
The witness describes what sounds to me like fisticuffs, hand-to-hand, albeit with brass knuckles and sticks. COPS WERE IN PLAIN VIEW. Left to its own, at worst these he-men would have done their macho and duked it out, injuring only themselves. Pulling guns -- that pegs the BS meter. There were all those COP CARS right there.
Tribal Princess, men fight, sometimes they need to fight, sometimes they just want to fight, but as long as they do it without guns, they're mostly just making asses of themselves and providing entertainment for onlookers. You're supposed to be tribal -- get with the picture, princess.
EVEN SO that fight is bizarre in that it transpired in full view of about half a dozen marked cop cars, and for another, in the normal course of events, would have harmed only those who were fighting each other. That they got into it at all is hard enough to believe, but the introducing gunfire -- in front of half a dozen cop cars --
The whole thing just pegs the BS meter.
At bottom what this is truly about is the right to free association, even if it includes associating with shady characters. That you disapprove is your deal.
