While the focus here should be entirely on the victims and their families, one can’t help but notice that, from a gun-rights standpoint, this could have been much worse.
Accounts are that the shooter used a .45 and reloaded five times. That suggests that he was shooting a 1911 - a hundred year old design with a low capacity magazine. This demonstrates the futility of gun control. I predict that the focus of opponents of gun rights will be on background checks and banning body armor.
Not in the days of that *hundred year old design* when most handguns were revolvers commonly carried with five rounds or, at best, six. Granted the other most common self-loading handgun of the day was the Mauser C96 *broomhandle* which usually carried ten, or eleven with one up the spout. But that was a design from the previous century.
