I myself aren't sure.....that I believe her.

I've seen too many campaigns. Too many people lying...

CJ was inactive here for quite a long time. Just seems like old times...the Clinton years...the early Obama years...once again.

That said...let's say she is for Cruz. Why would a Conservative act like a Liberal Progessive Marxist Democrat to try and disembowel a fellow Conservative? Why try and kill off people that have done good jobs in this country...Done Conservative things...Survived a bunch of BS things in that state!!!????

I agree with your post...but I don't believe her for nothing.

I have known good conservatives who couldn't stand Sarah Palin, and were inclined to take things in the worst manner possible. Since we elect men and not parties, I believe that a lot more than we admit is colored by our perceptions of the candidates' demeanor and personality. Even if Haley Barbour were not a crook, his southern dialect would play VERY poorly in the northeast regardless of his politics.

Ross Perot got a lot of undeserved support because his personality fit a certain template that people wanted to buy into. In a narrow way, Trump has a segment willing to do taht as well. It is not all rational.

The lefties HATE the fact that they cannot paint Scott Walker in his Kohl's $1 sweater as a fire-breathing dragon. And that makes them hate him even more.

I have to accept the possibility that some people are thrown off by Richie Cunningham types. Much as I dislike Obama and Clinton, my dislike of Kerry is far more visceral. I knew too many people from Massachusetts, and I don't like most of them. I don't know where CJ is from, maybe that plays into it.

CJ may well just not trust Walker at a personal level, or read an article that colored her judgment; or has one single crucial issue that sets her on fire. I know if Giuliani had ANY traction in 2008 I would have been all over him.

Now, there have been times when hatchet jobs have been done n good conservatives to help another conservative. Loeb's Manchester Union-Leader in New Hampshire was once the biggest influencer in the New Hampshire primary, and in 1980, Reagan was to the right of he field except for Cong. Phil Crane of Illinois, who wanted to go back on the gold standard, and was much younger than Reagan, and just as handsome. The paper went after him, NOT Baker, Dole, Connolly or Anderson, who were taking votes out of George the Elder's hide. It worked.

This election has a far different dynamic. Cruz is the more intelligent man, he has proved his own political savvy both in elections and in Congress, he has a well-defined philosophical vision. He is a better speaker.

Walker is a doer, and has unusual political instincts, patience and focus. He can be anti-establishment and make it look like he got backed into it. He reminds me of Joe Montana, ducking the rushing defensive end and getting the throw off. He doesn't get rattled. He doesn't come across as bitter or particularly negative.

But this election also has one real villain, Jeb Bush. If he gets the nomination because of a four way split amng rival conservatives (Rand Paul is his own brand, and I don't consider him taking votes from any one conservative), that would be a tragedy.

Though I think Cruz is the better choice, as I ultimately WANT to force a realignment that Cruz can and Walker won't, I am not willing to make specious arguments against either. Against Jeb Bush, no specious argument is needed. His last name is enough. We don't do royalty here. Finis.

I am trying to interject some objectivity into our evaluations of candidates based on their record. There is nothing “specious” in hard cold statistics. I do not want to spread the kind of failure exemplified by a state being 40th in job creation and 50th in new businesses to the rest of the country.

I don’t think Walker has done a good job fiscally for Wisconsin at all. Walker seems to have position changes based on political expediency fairly frequently. He was against ethanol before he was speaking to farmers in Iowa,. He sponsored a gun control bill when he was in the legislature. Take your pick of which of his immigration positions you like best.

Then there are the ethical issues. WEDC stinks to high heaven as an agency that rewarded Walker donors. Even in the union fight, Walker gave the unions that supported him a pass. Thank kind of political cronyism bothers me.

Whatever happens in the campaign, I think we need to carefully examine all the candidates’ records, because you can be sure the DNC will.
