Don’t forget up here in Canada with Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal in December 1989. Gamil Gharbi (aka Marc Lepine) took a Ruger Mini 14 and a hunting knife and murdered fourteen women one evening. The coroner determined that poor response time from the police (the Montreal 911 dispatch centre gave them inaccurate address information) was the chief reason the perpetrator achieved a high death toll and that his use of a semi auto was not the main factor (could have had similar results with a single shot shotgun or bolt action rifle).

Nonetheless, the gun grabbing crowd up here exploited that incident big time to demonize gun owners, semi autos, Albertans, conservatives even though Gharbi grew up in Montreal and was subjected to considerable physical abuse at the hands of his Algerian Muslim father.

This past weekend we had a guy walk into our church as we were finishing up the sunday am service. Pastor comes over to me, pulls me aside, asks if I am carrying, and pointed out the guy to me.

I told him that we have seen him in here before, he seems ok, but I will keep an eye out. I usually let a couple other guys know when I am keeping an eye on things - weightlifters, martial arts, veterans, cops...good to know the right people.

I often run the sound board at my church, so I am situated in the back of the room - a good place to be. For a short time we stationed ushers at the front/corner of the sanctuary to keep an eye on things, but now there are just a few of us to keep watch over things...

Our church has hosted classes for conceal permits and is active in pursuing improved awareness and security.

Just the (fallen) world we live in...

It is not a national tragedy. It is a local tragedy. The medium is the message. The media has nationalized and collectivized EVERYTHING. We are now one family ripe for a big daddy totalitarian government. Couple hundred years ago nobody outside that locale would have known or cared.
It was one man, one individual who did this. Not a national phenomenon worthy of the feds getting involved.

It is a tragedy based on the fallacy of gun control. Legally preventing honest citizens from protecting themselves made them victims of barbarism. If even one member of the congregation had been carrying in violation of that unconstitutional law this slaughter could have been prevented.
The solution to gun violence is not to disarm and make helpless, it is to provide all necessary resources to stop criminal violence. That includes, especially, arming the citizenry.

They want a perfectly sane, drug free white guy to shoot up a black church two weeks before the election.

As was observed on another thread, they really WANT a crazed Caucasian to do this.

Because a crazy shooter under ObamaCare would be incarcerated and denied all access.

Demonstrating that crazy people should not have access to guns, therefore either confiscate the gun - or the person.

I repeat: It is not a national tragedy. Conservatives have gotten sucked into the collectivist paradigm. And then attempt to escape from the very premises that they accept. It is local. It is personal.

The sad reality is that NO amount of gun control will stop ANY terrorist including this one in the most recent shooting incident from carrying out any attacks on others if that shooter is so determined to do so.

I posit this question to ANYONE that wants to argue gun-control and “gun-free” kill-zones - Show me one instance where a “Gun-Free Zone” has saved a single person from a determined killer? Beuhler? Anyone?

"They want a perfectly sane, drug free white guy to shoot up a black church two weeks before the election."

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Never happen. "[P]erfectly sane, drug free white guy[s]" don't do such things.
But, the "Trayvon Agenda" element of the black "culture" appears to (want to) believe that they are perfectly justified in doing the exact opposite. And that includes some of the "[P]erfectly sane, drug free" members of that so-called, "culture"...
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Different pools; different rules.

At least, that is what the Blacks and Muslims are trying to establish for themselves...

And now they have an Arabic immersion class in Houston for 130 kids. white kids. It’s the second most spoken language there? How the heck did that happen?
That’s what I read. I hope she was wrong.

We have a designated group of carriers (mostly Deacons) who are seated in strategic locations throughout the sanctuary during services. Not only does the pastor approve, he helped select the group — and he is usually carrying, too...
