Seriously, someone would have died if even three of the praying people had been armed. The element of surprise does have an advantage. But worst case scenario, the bastard might have killed two or three before someone pulled out a gun and stopped the ONLY SHOOTER by means of serious injury or death. He would have deserved it. And there would still have been a victim or two. Let’s be honest.
