On June 20 former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney called for South Carolina to remove the Confederate flag from their state Capitol grounds in Columbia.
His call comes in the wake of the heinous attack on Charleston’s Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. It follows a photo of the suspected gunman, Dylann Roof, in which Roof is seen leaning against his car with a Confederate flag license plate visible on the front of his vehicle being widely circulated.
Here were Romney’s exact words: “Take down the Confederate Flag at the SC Capitol. To many, it is a symbol of racial hatred. Remove it now to honor Charleston victims.”

I don’t think Romney had ANY Supporters in the Primaries at Free Republic. I don’t recall seeing a one.
If you have a list of names, I would like you to share it with the Board to backup your allegation.
I am one of many FReeper’s who supported Romney in the Primary to rid our Nation of the Marxist Usurper. After enduring the first Term (reign of Terror) of Obama, I would have probably Voted for most any Republican in the General.

Ansel pointed out that I used the word “Primary” instead of the intended word “General” in the fourth Paragraph of my Post, an unintended error on my part that I did not realize until he pointed it out to me.
I did indeed use the word “list” in the third Paragraph, figuring you knew who you were referring to since you stated “he had many supporters here at FR”. It was a simple assumption on my part, not an accusation. My mistake.
Since I had never seen any Romney Primary supporters, I was simply curious as to who they might be.
In the middle of all this back and forth, Norm Lenhart provided me with some Freeper Names that he claims did indeed support Romney in the Primaries. I missed his Post to me with all the back and forth going on between us.

Both the Federal Government and the states are important, because when states were too important, you have the failed system known as the Articles of Confederation. The failed system where every state adopted it’s own currency. The failed system where state militias were pretty much pathetic and couldn’t keep order so that people could take a riot to the state and cause some pretty serious chaos (Shays’ rebellion) I personally detest a lot of the policy decisions by BOTH the State and Federal governments right now, but the real problem isn’t the Federal Government so much as the fact that so MUCH of the American populace has gone so far down in terms of integrity, morality, and honor, that the Republic as a whole pretty much gets dragged down with them. I hate to say it to you, but right now the state governments in many cases are just as bad as the Federal Government.
Let’s agree to disagree on that one.

Ansel, to be perfectly frank, I don’t give a Rat’s Ass about Romney. I appreciate your ability to bring up the information and I hope it wasn’t too much trouble for you to gather it, but I just don’t care.
I was just curious as to which FReepers supported Romney in the Primaries because I had no recollection of ever seeing any, that’s it. South40 mentioned that some did and I obviously made a fatal error in asking who they might be. Didn’t seem too complicated to me at the time.
I also made an assumption that we were talking about 2012 since that is the only General Election that Romney participated in. Lesson learned, never assume on Free Republic.
A simple request on my part has turned into the biggest waste of time I can imagine. Grown Men and Women (?) making Mountains out of Molehills on the Internet. Boy, talk about accomplishing a Lifetime dream.
If I wasn’t suffering from Bronchitus and making the idiotic decision to stay in today, I could have avoided the whole stupid exercise in futility.
I swear, I have never seen such a flurry of innuendos, hanging accusations over the use a simple word (”list”) and a general feeling of Butt Hurt over absolutely nothing.

Romney is done with politics, yet it boggles my mind why some Freepers need to keep beating the dead horse about him possibly making it into this year. mamy of his donors are with Jeb Bush.
It was set up to properly balance the Federal and State governments and maintain unity and order among the states. The articles of confederation were thrown away because the states were in disorder and chaos. Shays’ rebellion put an entire state government to shame.
Perhaps it’s because Romney is a notorious liar. People made the same remarks about him not possibly running again (because that is what he said) after he lost the nomination in 2008. We all know that was a lie because not only did he run, he won the nomination, ran a lackluster, less than serious campaign against Obama and lost big time an election he should have easily won.
Now he’s worked out some deal with JEB! and says he won’t run again? If JEBBY shows signs of faltering (and he already has) early, I can easily imagine Romney deciding he needs to mount his white horse, get back into the race and save the world.
With Romney, donors are just a minor point. He and his friends are more than capable of raising enough for him to make it through the primaries. If he wins the nomination again, all of JEB!’s donors will throw their money at him.
You are being extremely naive if you think it can’t possibly happen.
Romney is still trying to run the party.
