WASHINGTON, DC The leaders of the United States Congress will hold a ceremony next month to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, July 8 at 3:00 pm in Emancipation Hall of the United States Capitol Visitor Center.
House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) will take part in the event.
More than 58,000 Americans were killed in action during the Vietnam War, and more than 153,000 were wounded. All told, 658 U.S. prisoners of war returned home alive from Southeast Asia, and as of 2014, 1,638 were still unaccounted for. There are roughly 7.4 million living Vietnam-era veterans. This ceremony will honor the service, remember the sacrifice, and reflect on the legacy of all who did their part, abroad and on the home front.
Additional details regarding logistics and media credentialing for the ceremony will be released at a later date.
Will Lurch throw some more medals away?
I don’t know what happened.
When I left the war was won.
(Leftist sh!tting demonrats)
Yeah, they’re celebrating the Democratic Congress’s decision to abandon Vietnam to the tender mercies of the communists - only a million lives were directly lost following this decision. You can’t count Cambodia I’m told.

My condolences to all who fought and must contend with these freaks running the commemoration ceremony.
Yes we were winning, the ROE's took the edge off our inevitable victory.
Sheesh, my unit had to air-drop leaflets to warn we'd be there the next day.
Eff you Robert McNamara and you other politicians who helped us "lose" the war.
I returned home safely.
God Bless the 58K+ that never made it back home.
</rant>
Is that your fact?
And let us never forget the democrats micromanaging us and the insane ROE that kept up from fighting and protecting ourselves.
Never forget having NVA 12.7mm tracers snapping up right in front of my face and the pilot telling me I could not return fire until they got permission! Never did get clearance, luckily we got out of range without any holes in us.
Great war, cannot shoot back until you get permission!
good grief.
50th anniversary of the start of the Vietnam War. Draft calls doubled in the summer of 1965 and that was the year we for certain had combat troops there, not just military advisers.
And then the war ran ten more years, until all US troops were withdrawn and, as has been said, the Democrats in Congress cut off funding and left the South under-supplied and unable to defend itself.
What fact?
I do do not presume to speak for all veterans, but As a Vietnam veteran all I can say is that I neither want nor need the commemoration of a bunch of jerks who will swear we lost the war, and point to it as something that must never be repeated no matter what.
The MSM ignored the 40th anniversary of Bill Ayers’ treasonous bombing of the Pentagon in support of the North Vietnamese communist military. Of course that anniversary was May 2012, while Obama was cruising towards re-election.
This article is disgusting. Reprehensible and underworthy of any oral allocation towards the actual/factuals of viet-nam. May Our Brothers, Rest.
Go.
You’re drunk, go to bed and apologize tomorrow.
