Pope: 'Weapon Makers Are Not Christians'
Sky News ^ | June 22, 2015

Pope Francis has said people who make weapons or invest in arms industries are hypocrites if they call themselves Christians.

"If you trust only men you have lost," he said to applause during a speech about war, money and politics.

"It makes me think of ... people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons. That leads to a bit a distrust, doesn't it?"

Francis also spoke about bloodshed in the Second World War, saying: "The great powers had the pictures of the railway lines that brought the trains to the concentration camps like Auschwitz to kill Jews, Christians, homosexuals, everybody.

"Why didn't they bomb (the railway lines)?"

He also decried the deaths of Christians in Russian gulags under the Stalin dictatorship, which followed the war.

Discussing World War One, he spoke of "the great tragedy of Armenia" but did not use the word "genocide".

Francis reiterated his view that conflicts in the world today are tantamount to "a Third World War in segments".

Interesting you should mention Jimmy Carter...my theory is that the Pope is mentally stuck in the 1970s, the Jimmy Carter era, so to speak. Somebody observed of his manifesto (well, he called it an encyclical) that it was as if it had been written by a committee composed of Al Gore, Karl Marx and Teilhard de Chardin.

Remember him...? Teilhard was all the rage in the late 60s and the 70s, where what is left of the Pope’s mind clearly resides.

Doctrinaire combined with totally naive - there is a special kind of cloud that surrounds that elevated state of consciousness.

Wasn’t there a cult called “Heaven’s Gate” once? March 26, 1997 brought the grizzly discovery that 39 members of the Heaven’s Gate cult had committed mass suicide, total believers in the doctrine they knew the “one True Path”, and with the certainty they wold hitch a ride on a passing comet.

Pope: ‘Weapon Makers Are Not Christians’

If I carry a weapon does that void my “Catholic” card?

With our Peronista Pope everything is political ...not spiritual. A sign of the times (season)?

Luke 22:36
He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

An Argentinian wrote a lengthy essay about Bergoglio in Buenos Aires. He said Bergoglio would give a rip-roaring Traddy speech to a bunch of Traddies in the morning, and a rip-roaring feminist speech to a bunch of pro-abortion feminists in the afternoon. All he cares about is applause, and he knows how to get it.

Well....coming from the same gov’t that has used weapons to kill probably millions since at least 200 BC, I’d say this “Pope” is par for the course when it comes to hypocrisy.

How’s the temps in Purgatory Franky?

So what were the Christian armies supposed to use to defend themselves against the Muslims at the battle of Lepanto, the siege of Vienna, or in Charles Martel’s time? Spitballs?

Remind us of what the Vatican did.....

No, people who use weapons to slaughter the innocents are not Christian.

“The great powers had the pictures of the railway lines that brought the trains to the concentration camps like Auschwitz to kill Jews, Christians, homosexuals, everybody. Why didn’t they bomb (the railway lines)?”

Something very odd about this part. It implies that the Allies knew of the genocide...and were in a position to stop it...and did not. I have no idea if there is a grain of truth to this, but even if there were, why bring it up now? Especially during a speech in which he opposes ‘weapons’?

Its almost a ‘how long have you been beating your wife’ statement, that immediately puts one on the defensive.

And to what end? He’s unhappy with the performance of the Allies? I don’t get it.

Oh...and the Allies bombed railroad lines like crazy, and the French Resistance destroyed them. But the Germans easily rebuilt them. And it suddenly strikes me that bombing a railroad that carried human cargo could have terrible consequences when trains hit the bombed area and derailed.

“If you trust only men you have lost,” well, what about only trusting men on global warming? Does that qualify?

The Catholic Church doctrine even approves tyrannicide. It is hypocrisy Francis ‘demagogic empty words when he called himself the Che Guevara of the Palestine people a mass blooded assassin and concocted a pact in hell with Obama to keep afloat the Cuban Stalinist regime that oppressed the Cuban people for over half a century.

As a practicing Roman Catholic I feel I need to remind everyone that this entity has had all kinds of bad popes and when they forget the admonition “My Kingdom Is Not If This World” it gets into all sorts of trouble. But survives.

These meandering homilys of his on temporal matters diffuse any theologic message he offers. Snowballs should be thrown at those pointy hat supporters of his as well as opposition clearly expressed to those meanderings on any visit he may make here.

Very weird. This pope was highly though of by the general public then all of sudden he’s taken a left turn over the cliff like he’s possessed.

This guy really DOES put his own authority above Scripture.

I guess either he doesn’t believe Jesus actually said sell your cloak and buy a sword,
or if He did, He was wrong.
