The gun would disappear but the violence will increase.

But Rove doesn’t care. His bodyguards aren’t armed with scissors

First of all, that is a blatant lie, that the Southern Governments tried to hinder bringing church bombers to justice in 1963.

But the real point is that Karl Rove has never been either the brilliant strategist, that he has somehow persuaded Republican "moderates" or the Bush family, that he was. I have been trying to wake fellow Republicans up to his combination of unprincipled incompetence, since he grossly mismanaged the 2000 election--the one almost lost by chicanery in Florida.

"Dysron," Quack or Mole.

Republican Disaster--2006; etc., etc.

The Genie escaped the bottle back around 1335 AD. All the King’s horses and all the King’s men cannot get the Genie in the bottle again.

years ago, a book critic praised the development of gunpowder after reading THE CITIES OF THE FLESH by Zoe Oldenbourg. He said it made sieges shorter and less bloody.

Ater he says the bit about getting rid of the second amendment he also says “I don’t think that will work” (or something close to that.)

In other words he is not advocating getting rid of all guns he is saying to anyone who will listen:
“ There is no political solution to this societal problem”

Once again FR people have a need to turn an innocent statement into something it is not and then bash the hell out of the author

It makes FR look like a joke

If you don’t like Karl Rove thats fine but he is not necessarily the enemy of conservatives
certainly not on this matter

If that isn’t living in a dream world, I don’t know what is. Repealing the 2nd Amendment will do nothing to stop criminals from acquiring guns. Nothing to date has stopped them. When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.

Karl Rove should be tarred and feathered and run out of the US on a rail for proposing to do away with the Second Amendment. Sheeseh!

Hey Karl! Be a leader by example and start with the guns that your body guards carry.

And demand that all of your fellow Leftists do the same!

On the other hand, the Second Amendment was created and designed to keep tyrannical “politicians” from “repealing” it.

“Now maybe there’s some magic law that will keep us from having more of these. I mean basically the only way to guarantee that we will dramatically reduce acts of violence involving guns is to basically remove guns from society, and until somebody gets enough “oomph” to repeal the Second Amendment, that’s not going to happen.”

Do you agree with the statement that if we could remove all guns from society, there would be no gun violence? (By definition, this statement is correct since it would be impossible to have gun violence without guns.)

Do you agree with the statement that no one has enough “oomph” to repeal the 2nd Amendment?

If you agree with both of these statements, then you agree with Rove.

A couple of cycles back a bunch of his chosen favorites lost their primaries. He undermined and backstabbed the Republican candidates.

The entire top tier of the party needs to go away.

Karl Rove made an appearance on Fox News Sunday and said the only way to stop gun violence is to repeal the Second Amendment and “remove guns from society.”

Karl, that is an excellent idea!

And while we are at, lets ban Heroin, Cocaine, Marijuana, LSD, Crack, car-jacking, home invasion, rape, child molestation, and bank robbery just to name a few and then none of those will ever ever happen again...I mean if all we have to do is pass a law or repeal a God given right...then everything will be unicorns and rainbows and bubble farts for everyone...

STFU Karl and go crawl under a rock for this election.

It has been said, and corectly, that they are for the vote till they have the guns, then they will be for the guns. This is how NAZISM works.

Rove’s answer was about as weak as you can make it without fully coming out and saying you are against the second amendment. Anyone trying to twist his answer into something else needs to listen again to what he said because really its not difficult to defend 2A and the constitution if you believe in it.

Of course, in this case, Mr. Rove is exactly correct. No silly law, no pen and a phone, no executive order, no police state action can prevent the tragedies that occur in society as exemplified by the massacre in Charleston.

The only solution is a complete and total confiscation of guns in the hands of citizens by the state. Taking that step requires the repeal of the 2d Amendment of the Constitution, following by laws authorizing confiscation of guns. Such laws have been crafted in any number of dictatorial states, so we would have plenty of versions from which to choose.

Those who favor this course of action, should craft a simple Constitutional Amendment repealing the 2d and move forward to have it ratified. Politicians can declare in support or as opposed as they wish. The states may do the same, as they wish. Once done the argument is over and the Federal Government will enjoy complete and total control of every single person in this country. This would be completely legal, and severe punishment could be handed down to anyone caught violating the laws.

That’s the way it works, what are the chances that this course of action would succeed? Zero.

Today while listening to talk radio, I heard a black woman say the solution isn’t gun control, but heart control. BINGO!

Subject: Karl Rove and the Second Amendment

Karl Rove presented a popular, contra-factual, deceptive statement when saying, “the only way to guarantee that we will dramatically reduce acts of violence involving guns is to basically remove guns from society, and .... repeal the Second Amendment”. However, Harvard Law School completed a study discovering that within the U.S. and across European countries, violent criminality and suicide were unrelated and often inversely related to gun ownership.

In conclusion it said,” the burden of proof rests on the proponents of the more guns equal more death and fewer guns equal less death mantra, especially since they argue public policy ought to be based on that mantra. To bear that burden would at the very least require showing that a large number of nations with more guns have more death and that nations that have imposed stringent gun controls have achieved substantial reductions in criminal violence (or suicide). But those correlations are not observed when a large number of nations are compared across the world.”

Instead the study asserted that basic social, economic, and cultural factors determined human actions.

Rove just delivered himself the final blow as far as politics is concerned. After this, who wants to hear what he has to say? He has been inconsequential for a long time, but now he is really done.

Everybody considered him the man behind Bush’s decisions. He was not. He was simply one advisor, and not a real big one. Now he’s nothing but a man trying to hold on to some semblance of importance. He’s gone!
