Oh My: Trump Is In Second Place In NH, Poll Finds( 144 Are Undecided)

Donald Trump — yes, that Donald Trump — is edging every single GOP candidate running for president in an early primary state except for one, a new Suffolk University poll finds. He’s polling at 11 percent overall in New Hampshire, and thus only trails the nominal frontrunner, Jeb Bush, by three percentage points:

The results are mystifying, in part because The Donald’s favorables are deeply underwater (37/49), and in part because only 60 percent of the poll’s 500 respondents want him on-stage debating other candidates. Nevertheless, the director of the university’s Political Research Center, David Paleologos, provides a plausible explanation for why Trump, in the summer of 2015, is an early favorite to win the Granite State.

“Jeb Bush continues to lead, but Donald Trump has emerged as an anti-Jeb Bush alternative in New Hampshire,” he said in a statement. “Many of those who like Trump are voting for him, and although many more dislike him, the unfavorables are split up among many other candidates. It’s the politics of plurality.”

That is to say, because there are so many other candidates in the running — and 13 percent of self-described conservatives already back him — the presidential longshot is able to sit comfortably in second place with only 11 percent of the vote. The trouble with his celebrity status and early lead, however, according to Paleologos, is that he may not be able to grow his base of support, especially as other candidates begin spending more and more time in the state.

“Trump’s controversial candidacy is being constructed in a way that gives him visibility and exposure in the short term but may also limit his growth in the long run, like a glass ceiling,” Paleologos said.

If true, this means Trump will only lose supporters over the course of the campaign, not gain them. Realistically, too, no one actually believes Trump has the political acumen — or appeal — to win the nomination. But could he win the New Hampshire primary, I wonder, given the fact that he’s a billionaire, entirely self-funded, and off to an early lead?

Doubtful, of course, but I guess we’ll see.

Nothing against Sarah Palin, but that won’t change my decision either.

Donald Trump is for American jobs, and he is for protecting our borders.

Nobody else, in either party, is saying anything about either of those very critical issues.

Those are why Trump will do well. He is speaking the truth.

You can’t claim anything at 11%.

You can claim it's 3 times as much as 3.6%.

The poll is for New Hampshire and a lot can change and will. Also notice 144 are undecided which is the majority

No, he wasn’t kidding, and it was the same Oprah that he wanted for his 1999 run.

Trump isn’t a democrat. He is currently a Republican.

He is STRONGLY for American jobs, and for protecting our borders.

Nobody else is saying anything, about those two very important issues.

Nobody.

Sarah would not run with Donald Trump.

For one thing Donald Trump is pro-abortion, for another thing, Palin doesn’t want him banning any of her guns.

You are welcome my Friend. I don’t believe Trump is going anywhere. I do believe, however, he has potential to damage the party with his antics. And I cannot believe anyone here would be for that.

Ya’ ever think of changing your boring mantra?

Uh don’t answer that, talking to a stone is an exercise of futility.

My husband’s brother called him the other day. He’s the most liberal member of the family. I love my brother-in-law to death, because he’s a sweetheart, but he has never been known for his common sense. He’s flighty and makes impulsive decisions he later regrets.

He told my husband he was supporting Trump. Husband’s reaction to me was, “Well, it figures.”

Oh, and BIL was drunk, too.

Well if Trump isn’t running with Oprah then forget it.

The fact that he has repeatedly said that he was joking seems to have no ability to penetrate your stream of consciousness. Or unconsciousness as the case may be. You are the only person on FR who thinks Donald Trump is going to choose Oprah Winfrey as his VP. Just you and nobody else. Hey that could be a song. :-)

Trump's favorite president is Hillary's husband, Trump donates to Hillary, Trump donated to Hillary and was a democrat the last time that Hillary ran in 2008, and Hillary is running against the GOP, and Trump has registered in the GOP and is running for president, and you think he might not have our interests in mind?

You could be right.

Why in the world would I want to stop talking about the only candidate in either party, who wants to bring jobs back to America?

Hmm?

Watch the interview, damage control doesn’t erase that he wanted Oprah, just as he did for his last presidential efforts.

Oprah turned Trump down, do you like him wanting Charlie Rangel in his cabinet?

Johnny One-Note
A one-hitter who repeats the same tired mantra over and over. It’s used to described some shrill, tired ideologue or academic that pompously echoes some quaint notion or idea endlessly, and expects everyone to see his supposed wisdom and bow in concurrence.

Over the past few months we have heard about the Clintons and their corrupt foundation. Trump has donated large to the corrupt Clinton Foundation.

Coincidence?

Trump believes in socialist medicine. He donated to the democRATs helping both Pelosi and Reid win their respective leaderships. That assured the passage of Kenyancare.

Coincidence?

The Insane Clown Posse thinks so.
