Nuclear weapons are not military weapons, they are political weapons. They will never be used again by two belligerent countries.

It is like a fight between two guys, the quickest way to win is to punch the other guy in the balls, the equivalent of a nuclear bomb, but that never happens. Why? because there is a brief moment before the pain sets in, during the brief reprieve the other guy does the same thing back. Hence it never happens. What the heck kind of fighting are you talking about?

It sounds like the only fighting you ever did was against friends, or school chums, or some kind of suburban fighting, but not against scary guys in bars and towns that you were a total stranger in.
