True. I remember an old Crossfire episode with Pat Buchanan as the “right” host, Beckel as the “left” host, and Ed Meese (former Reagan AG) as the “right” guest (forgot who the “left” guest was, some nobody). As it turned out, Beckel and Meese are good friends, Beckel said as much and said “I like [Meese] a lot.” The show became a love fest, with Buchanan, Beckel and Meese laughing and joking with each other, and the lefty guest was out in the cold.

Exactly right.

There was a time when Beckel was very edgy. On the FoxNews panel, he was less edgy. He would disagree, but he moderated considerably.

What I suspect is that we’ll get someone much more edgy, that will be more effective in confusing people.

Not good in the long term.
