"...Justice Antonin Scalia, in his withering dissent, refers to the Roberts opinion as “applesauce” — surely because decorum prevented him from calling it b—ls—t. "

Like Mark Levin said last night. A correct ruling has to involve reading comprehension.

If that is his logic, then he should be saying something like “Congress passed the Second Amendment to affirm gun rights, not destroy them”

Personally, I think he is being blackmailed by Obama & the NSA just like Boehner!

"There’s a term for arguments advanced with knowing falsehood simply to win the day. It’s casuistry. Perhaps we should rename John Roberts the Chief Casuist of the United States."

Great quote from the article. Even more simply, the author is labeling Roberts as the Chief Liar of the United States, although there is certainly major competition for that title.

Maybe this will dispel any notion that any Bush is a conservative, including W. He appointed this nutcase.

Sorry, the premise is dead wrong. There are two unstated goals in the law: redistribution and paving the way for single payer, which compliments the leftist goal of government control of healthcare.

Improvement of insurance markets is not the goal.

ObamugabeCare was written and passed to show the governments good intentions.

Roberts decides that those good intentions are more important than actual results.

To paraphrase South Park:
Step 1 - The idea: Reform HealthCare
Step 2 - Pass Legislation
Step 3 - Something
Step 4 - Utopia!

Two predictions:

1) Justice Scalia is going to retire. If he is going to continue to end up in the minority on rulings as absurd as this, he likely feels there is no point to hanging around for any more rides in the clown car. He may wait until after the next election though.

2) If the Obama Administration really has Roberts by the shorthairs as it appears, look for the Court to quickly begin backtracking from the Citizens United decision. That is A#1 on the Liberal hit list.

Congress passed the Affordable Care Act to improve health insurance markets, not destroy them,” writes Chief Justice John Roberts

And the lies continue...

the question that has to be asked, if the words and meaning were altered to what Roberts says that it must say/intend, would the same legislators have voted for it, or would they have demanded amendments. He cannot know that with certainty.

Sorry, but Obamacare WAS designed to destroy the insurance market because it’s the first step to single payer. Who would need an insurance company then?......NO ONE!

“Twisted” logic? More like no logic.

There is no logic in the decision at all.

There is only corruption.

There’s a term for arguments advanced with knowing falsehood simply to win the day. It’s casuistry.

There is an even simpler term for it: Lying.

...of course the goal was to improve markets.

I disagree with this premise.

So if businesses were getting rich by violating the civil rights of citizens the SC could rule this to be OK because ruling otherwise would be “disruptive”????

You have to be kidding me.
