Donald Trump Bans Univision Staff From His Miami Golf Resort

Donald Trump sent a letter to Univision CEO and president Randy Falco on Friday informing him that "no Univision officer or representative" is allowed to use his Trump National Doral, the resort and golf club immediately adjacent to Univision offices in Miami, the On Media blog has learned.

The move is the latest in a public dispute that started Thursday when Univision announced it would end its business relationship with the Miss Universe Organization, which is co-owned by Trump and NBCUniversal, based on what it described as Trump's "insulting remarks about Mexican immigrants" during the launch of his presidential campaign. Trump later announced that he would sue Univision for breach of contract and defamation, and accused Univision of defaulting on an "iron-clad" $13.5 million contract, which he said it had no right to terminate.

In the letter, Trump writes to Falco, "Please be advised that under no circumstances is any officer or representative of Univision allowed to use Trump National Doral, Miami—its golf courses or any of its facilities. Also, please immediately stop work and close the gate which is being constructed between our respective properties. If this is not done within one week, we will close it."

In a post-script, Trump added: "Please congratulate your Mexican Government officials for having made such outstanding trade deals with the United States. However, inform them that should I become President, those days are over. We are bringing jobs back to the U.S. Also, a meaningful border will be immediately created, not the laughingstock that currently exists."

Shortly after publication of this item, a Univision spokesperson told the On Media blog that the following directive had been sent to all employees: "As part of this decision, [Univision Communications Inc.] employees should not stay at Trump properties while on company business or hold events/activities there."

Trump, who is running for the Republican presidential nomination, said in a speech earlier this month that he would build a wall to stop Mexico from dumping "rapists" and criminals on U.S. soil, though he later issued a statement accusing the media of trying "to distort my comments regarding Mexico and its great people." Univision said Thursday that it would severe its business relations with Trump based on those remarks, including its five-year contract with the Miss Universe Organization, which gives Univision broadcasting rights to the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.

In an interview with the On Media blog on Thursday, Trump accused Univision of capitulating to pressure "put on them by various sources in Mexico."

"The Mexican government is putting pressure on Univision to get me to stop exposing the weaknesses the U.S. has at the southern border," he said during the interview, citing his claims that U.S. leaders were "incompetent" on trade with Mexico, allowing the country to take advantage of the U.S., and that the southern border "is a sieve" that "illegals are pouring through."

"The government of Mexico and the lobbyists and the special interests have put tremendous pressure on Univision, a company that is very subservient to Mexico, to get Trump to stop exposing the terrible situation at the border and the terrible trade deals that are being made by the United States to the benefit of Mexico," he said. "I will not be party to that, because my love of the country is too great to allow this to happen."

On Friday, Trump also published a photograph of a hand-written letter from Univision's Jorge Ramos that included the anchor's personal cell phone number, a move that was likely to inflame tensions between the two parties.

Someone should post his head on one of Putin’s shirtless poses.

Maybe, but at least he fights back, unlike the current GOP ‘leaders’. I find it refreshing.

And BTW, it is political. Univision cancelled their coverage because they want to shut up anyone who wants to stand up against the invasion of illegals. That’s how the left works.

More than likely Trump wanted to take his pageant over to Univision’s rival...NBC-owned Telemundo

Unlike Telemundo, most of Univision’s programs come from Televisa in Mexico

I 100% agree with you. As someone once said “by the time a politician ascends to the Presidency he no longer deserves to be there”.

I really like Carly - will give an exception to Scott Walker and Ted Cruz.

I don’t think that’s what happened. What I heard is Trump showed that he had had an appt. with Neil Young before announcing in which Young was begging for some money for some cause.

Beware The Donald: he does have a habit of taking notes and exposing the hypocrisy of people who visit him and then turn on him in public. He’s done it NYC on a regular basis.

Maybe, but at least he fights back

How did he fight back? He just insulted Mexicans, he didn't say anything relevant to improve the situation. In fact, he helped the other side more. Meanwhile 10s of 1000s of illegals are working on Trump job sites. He would freak out if anyone did anything to stop the flow of illegals.

You seem to want the ant-Reagan: lots of talk, lots of lying, and no competence. Reagan was a polite man and he quietly and smartly got the job done. It's a shame conservatives are trashing the Reagan legacy.

He took some action today didn’t he? The typical GOP candidate would be foolishly groveling and apologizing by now.

Meanwhile 10s of 1000s of illegals are working on Trump job sites.

I was musing a couple of hours ago about how likely it is that he'll have many, many instances of sabotage - be it from 'the help' at his golf clubs and hotels, or jobsite people.

I fail to see the hypocrisy. Young wanted some business meeting with Trump. That doesn't mean that Young wanted him to use his song for a political campaign. I don't agree with Young policing who can use his song, but I don't see the hypocrisy.

If Young is a hypocrite, would Trump be one to for attempting to do a business deal with an "evil, foreign" Canadian?

What action did he take? Banning people from a golf course? That is the stupidest thing I have heard. That doesn’t do anything except make him look petty. Certainly not the act of either a good businessman or good statesman.

“He insulted the Mexicans”

Are you effing serious? The Mexicans insult us everday by sending the dregs of their society here so they don’t have to deal with them. Mexico is a failed narco state that cannot even defeat the drug cartels who rule with impunity.

What are you a Jeb bot? Maybe you are Jeb.

I didn’t accuse him of hypocrisy although it’s dumb to take a meeting with someone, beg for something, and then turn around and publicly abuse The Donald. Personally, I’ve always enjoyed these little games he plays with idiots. That does not make me support him for president before people start accusing me of that. He’s been a character on the scene for 40 years and he does make me laugh. Strictly as an authentic New York eccentric.

Just image what would happen if Obama were banned from a golf course? It would be “GOLFAGEEDON” on the banner. SWAT teams, IRS agents, DEA, DHS, SS, DOD, DOJ, Donald Duck, etc.

Yes, a golf course is a powerful weapon. Just listen to George Carlin’s rant against them. Funny as hell.

Anything we can do to piss off the leftist Hispanics is fine with me. I want the real American Hispanics to stand up for America, notto bow down to Mexico, La Raza, Mecha, Univision or “Dora the Explorer”.

I like the way Trump operates. Good for him.

Trump isn’t a career politician like the rest of the GOP field. So far all I am hearing out of the rest of the candidates is words. And some of their actions, namely Cruz, upset me to no end.

Trump calls it like he sees it. This is going to be very interesting. By the way, he was right in his remarks about some of the garbage coming across that southern border. We don’t know who everyone is and some of them have already killed american citizens.
