I am practically in tears, trying to make my 16 year-old daughter understand how the U.S. Constitution works, how this decision flew in the face of the Separation of Powers, etc., and I have a Quebecois daughter, who goes to school in the most Liberal province of Canada, who is thoroughly indoctrinated...
She thinks I am a Neanderthal... She doesn’t even understand how I said that marriage is a sacred rite in the Catholic Church. My husband just sits there...

But there is no doubt that the young people of today are absolutely okay with gay marriage and they do NOT understand the objection people have to it.
She’s a Modern Family fan, so is my husband, and they have never understood why, while I find the show funny on an intellectual level, I also think it is pure propaganda.

I loved Brokeback Mountain and I was too stupid to realize at the time how they chip away at the foundations of belief until you have nothing to say except things that appear ridiculous.
They make it seem like you are heartless and cruel if you don’t want to... even let the States decide!!! about whether or not gays should be permitted to marry. My daughter pretty much understood that, but she said, “Why wait for all the States? If it’s the right thing to do, why not just do it now?”
I tried to explain that the Founders wanted the people to decide, through their elected representatives, not by some far off king (or the Gang of Nine). She said, it’s different, it’s a group of people, nine, not just one.
I said, it’s really not all that different... they are like a king in that you can’t get rid of them. They may be nine, but if they just feel a certain way... as a group (a very small, UNELECTED group!), the rest of the country must obey. That is not what the people who started the country envisioned.
Call me a cab, and call me a bigot. Nothing changes the fact that holy matrimony is the union of one man and one woman. Period.

The tea leaves in my cup say Justice Ginsburg will await the results of the next election to determine her retirement. I predict that if there is a GOP win - she quits so Obama can replace her. She has shown herself to be a politician, not a judge.

I knew as a little girl I would be alive to witness biblical prophesy come alive. I am also grateful I do not have any Children. I would not want to have any Children to witness persecutions and see their world filled with so much Evil.
It is not just Tea Leaves, but I may be wrong, but I believe Justice Ginsburg will pass away by the end of this year. Not sure her or one of the justices, but I bet it is her. I do not know how I know but just a feeling I got.
You are presuming that, between the election and the inauguration, Ginsburg will resign, Obama will name a replacement...and a GOP Senate will approve.

In fact, if Ginsburg should keel over tomorrow, it's highly unlikely that an Obama appointee would be approved before the next inauguration.

I do agree. I really don’t care who marries who, generally I’m a libertarian but it is a two way street as well. Those who are gay should not be bullied and they in turn should not bully those who disagree. No matter what your principles and conscience on this or any issue is, you have the right to practice and live your life that way. The court should have tossed this out and left it to the States and/or people themselves to decide, the Feds should be silent. Also the SCOTUS did not learn what I did when I was 15, never throw rocks at a hornet’s nest, they really did it this time. I tend to be a South Park libertarian type but when I see the demonisation of those who hold their religious beliefs dear, it makes me feel sick and I would defend them. Deep down inside although people have the right to make such agreementsm I do think America has jumped the shark when things like this go on. I wish we can live to live, but the radical gays are not willing to do that and this could be their version of Dred Scott or Ft. Sumter I’m afraid.
