So goes the line from the old American and long ago Disney-ized folk tale Song of the South by Joel Chandler Harris. The rabbit pleads with the fox not to throw him into the briar patch. The fox does just what he is asked not to do - and thus tossed into the thicket where rabbits thrive, the rabbit escapes. Laughing all the way.
The scene comes to mind with the news that Univision has abruptly told Donald Trump that they will no longer carry the Trump-owned Miss Universe pageant. Why? It seems that the network is displeased that in his announcement speech The Donald said:
When do we beat Mexico at the border? They’re laughing at us, at our stupidity. And now they are beating us economically. They are not our friend, believe me. But they’re killing us economically.
The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems. When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. In all fairness Trump said those already here, WORKING, he would not try to weed out and send home.
I like Trump’s approach.
First we build a true barrier at the border, then with the people already in America we keep the productive ones right here, let them be, and send back all of the scavengers and free-loaders.
It is a very good approach. It starts, with a real border wall.

I would be critical of any candidate who is pro-AMNESTY.
I am known to be Rick Perry's biggest critic because he is pro-AMNESTY.
Donald Trump is pro-AMNESTY liberal. You are pushing your pro-AMNESTY liberal candidate in the conservative forum.
Like it or not that will forever be met with resistance as it logically should.
You are ignoring Trump is the only one saying we need to build a real border.

So while you are diverting attention to what he said about those who are in America and supporting themselves (and us), you are completely ignoring he is the only candidate anywhere, who is saying that after how many years, America needs to actually build a real fence.
That is what Trump is for, and he is the only one talking about that.

Let me say I am only for keeping those here, who are working, and am for sending back all of those who are here gaming our system.
I am for sealing our borders.
So while it seems I have something of a disagreement with Jim Thompson on some of what I am supporting, I do not believe it is a full-fledged difference.
You may disagree. I will take that into account in my postings here, as I don’t want to take a position which is directly at odds with the site owner.
But I believe Trump may be right on balance, about this. Hear me out.
He is right about sealing our southern border. He is right about sending back all of those who are here gaming our system.
He is not for sending back those who are here being productive people, and who will be productive citizens, so perhaps I need to keep that in mind.

Leni, the last time I tried that one out with respect to Trump, the anti-Trump folks opened up with their ghetto blasters. But it’s still the truth. As I see it, Trump paid and played with whomever he had to, to accomplish his business objectives. The open question now is, can he stop doing commercial deals and deal with this country’s problems. I sometimes worry about his attention span, but there is no question that he’s already moved the needle despite the naysayers here.
I for one, would like to be at the front door of the Doral, when these Mexican a$$holes, golf bags in hand, are turned away! It about time we started turning Mexico away. It’s a corrupt dump.
