NASCAR jumped the shark a long time ago. It ceased to be a real Southern institution once old man France passed away and his grandchildren turned it into a Hollywood extravaganza.
NASCAR's traditional fan base has flocked away in droves. Is there any track on the circuit that even sells out anymore?

Atlanta Motor Speedway tore down half their grand stands several months ago. It never looked good on TV to see all those empty seats.

I've noticed a lot of empty seats at NASCAR events in the last five years. My explanation:
1. I think auto racing in general is on the wane. Young people are not attracted to it as in the past.
2. NASCAR has no charismatic superstar. Its best driver - Jimmie Johnson - has the personality of a doorknob.
3. It has become too corporate and politically correct.
