Katie Couric interviews Ted Cruz
Yahoo ^ | 6/29/2015 | K. Couric

Posted on 06/29/2015 8:31:44 AM PDT by VinL

Ted Cruz continued his verbal assault on last week’s historic Supreme Court decisions on Monday, saying the justices who ruled in favor of Obamacare and gay marriage “rewrote the Constitution.” “They joined a team, they put on bright-blue Obama jerseys and they rewrote the law,” the U.S. senator from Texas told Yahoo News’ Katie Couric during a live sit-down interview from Yahoo’s New York City studios. “Those decisions are a threat to our democracy.”

Cruz slammed Chief Justice John Roberts, who wrote the majority opinion in the Obamacare case on behalf of what the 2016 Republican presidential hopeful called “five unelected lawyers.”

“I think the chief justice believes somehow that by rewriting Obamacare he’s keeping the Supreme Court out of politics,” Cruz said. “But sadly these will go down in his legacy as the most political decisions he has ever made. And they’re violating his oath of office.”

The Court’s decision to effectively legalize same-sex marriage in every state, Cruz said, is a “profound threat to the religious liberty to millions of men and women,” regardless of their faith.

The Supreme Court ruling extends to gay couples the ability to apply for and be granted state-issued marriage licenses, but some conservative religious leaders worry about being petitioned directly to take part in services or otherwise recognize marriages their faiths continue to oppose.

“Society has no right to force a Jewish rabbi to perform a Christian wedding ceremony,” he said. “Society has no right to force a Muslim Imam to perform a Jewish wedding ceremony.” “There’s nothing in the Constitution that demands we tear down the marriage laws in every state,” Cruz, a conservative Christian, continued. “I am eager to fight for religious liberty.”

Couric asked Cruz if he’s out of step with public opinion on gay marriage since 60 percent of Americans believe same-sex marriages should be recognized as legal.

“I’m not at all,” Cruz said, blaming “liberals” and Hollywood for pushing the gay-marriage agenda.

The 44-year-old first-term senator vowed to expose what he called the “Washington cartel” in his run for the White House.

“I think it’s wrong when our elected leaders are lying to the American people and treating us like we’re stupid,” the first-term senator said. “People are fed up with people who say one thing and do another.”

That includes the Supreme Court.

“The Supreme Court represents the elites in New York and Washington, D.C.,” Cruz said.

On the issue of the environment, Cruz dismissed climate change as a “pseudoscientific theory.”

“Satellite data shows there has been no significant recorded warming. None,” Cruz said. “When the satellites are measuring the temperature — it’s not happening.”

Climate change, he said, “is being driven by politicians who want more control over our lives.”

On the subject of terrorism, Cruz criticized President Barack Obama for not correctly defining the threat.

“We cannot defeat radical Islamic terrorism with a president who is unwilling to utter the words ‘radical Islamic terrorism,’” Cruz said. “It matters.”

The Obama administration, Cruz said, is engaging in what he calls “photo-op foreign policy” — “drop a bomb here, a bomb there.”

“We should be funding the Kurds and using them as boots on the ground,” he said.

On immigration, the Canadian-born Texan and son of a Cuban immigrant said America needs to “get serious” in securing the borders.

“There is no stronger champion of legal immigration than I am in the Senate,” Cruz said.

But the Texas senator declined to answer the question of what to do with the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States.

“With respect to the people who are here illegally now, I don’t think we have to solve everything at once,” he said.

On his chances to win the Republican nomination, Cruz dismissed polls that show him trailing his GOP rivals despite being the first to launch a campaign.

“I think national polls are almost entirely irrelevant,” Cruz said. “I think the energy and enthusiasm we are seeing [on the campaign trail] is incredible.”

Yeah.. we can call those "magic moments" and they should be archived forever on YouTube as a grim reminder to future fools.

My post is....WHY would T.C. interview with K.C.?
***********

Don’t know— but my surmise would be, that he has a contractual obligation to the publisher of his just released book—”A Time For Truth”— he has to appear on the circuit and talk about it.

[[Ted’s a smart cookie,]]

I think though his argument should revolve around the fact that man’s production of CO2 amounts to just 3.4% of the total atmospheric CO2 which stands at just 0.04% of the atmosphere- meaning that the total amount of CO2 In the atmosphere, due to man amounts to just 0.00137% of the atmosphere (The math is 3.4% of 0.04% = 0.00137% [the total % of CO2 in atmosphere due to man])

That means that (assuming that CO2 can only absorb it’s own ‘weight’) only 0.00137% of the heat escaping earth get’s absorbed by CO2 and only a small % of that amount actually gets back radiated to earth (the majority gets radiated out in directions other than directly back to earth ie out into space)

So, 99.99863% of the heat escaping earth goes right on out into space- what LITTLE heat actually gets absorbed and back radiated to earth gets released into a now COOLER surface temperature, and it is quickly overwhelmed by the now cooler temps and reaches equilibrium almost instantly, meaning the temperature on earth does NOT change one iota because there is so little back radiate heat that it simply has ZERO chance of affecting earth’s temperature

to put this into simplistic perspective- it would be akin to standing in an enclosed football stadium, lighting one single match, and quickly extinguishing this match, doing this once a year, and claiming you have dramatically altered the inside temperatures to the point that it has become catastrophic and claiming we must ‘
act now before it’s too late and irreversible damage is done to the climate and to the environment within that done)

I personally believe that by exposing the numbers that show the ridiculously small amount of CO2 in the atmosphere due to man, this LIE of ‘man-caused’ global warming can be stopped in it’s tracks- because those making the claim have NO answer to how such little CO2 can be causing climate change- when they pint to the fact that the atmosphere has nearly 400 parts per million, or they list the tonnage of CO2 produced, the historical records show that many 1000’s of years ago CO2 levels were even higher than today so therefore NATURE is the cause of the rise, NOT man, and, even though there is tons of CO2 in atmosphere each year- it still only amounts to 0.00137% produced by man- period-

He basically should say something along the liens of “To claim man is responsible for climate change, after discovering that we are only responsible for 0.00137% of the volume of CO2 in atmosphere, is like claiming that if I were to take a leak in the ocean, that it would cause global flooding. I am still waiting on the ‘consensus of scientists’ to explain how such a small amount of CO2 can cause ANY climate change whatsoever”

[[I’ve never understood...why Conservative/Pubbies....give any time to Liberal/Progressive/Democrats’s. ]]

you and me both- UI can only conclude that MOST of them are too ignorant to realize that they WILL ALWAYS be vilified by the left no matter what- and I can only hope that Ted is smart enough that he can hold his own and make it backfire on the interviewers if they attempt it with him

Hey Rita, did you know that your “jealousy and desperation” are showing?????? Leastwise, that’s what I just read on the Board, so it must be so. I’m shocked! And you always so insightful and circumspect. -:)

Cruz is a rock. Couple of missteps imo, but still, he is the only one on the scene who will transform the Roberts GOP—without which, -well- this last week foretells where we’re heading if the GOP isn’t reconfigured at the top.

Walker is a good conservative— but he won’t change the GOP. Nor will any of the others.

...“I think it’s wrong when our elected leaders are lying to the American people and treating us like we’re stupid,” the first-term senator said. “People are fed up with people who say one thing and do another.”...
He must be referring to their new emblem: the “lying RINOlilly.” Red on the outside; blue on the inside. Used to be restricted to coastal areas in America’s northeast and far west, but recently has spread inland to America’s mid-west. There have been some sightings in the south.

The lying RINOlilly emerges from the earth every two years—around labor day. Blooms bright red until the first Wednesday in November, when it changes color over-night to bright blue.

This horrible weed will spread country-wide unless pulled up by its roots and destroyed before Labor Day.”

Liked it so, I cut pasted it again.;+)

I think Ted should stick to making simple arguments people can understand, such as yours. He could also say there has been no global warming over the past 35 years within the accuracy of the satellite temperature measurements.

Thank God that Palin was in a position, to help give us Ted Cruz.

Her years of work for conservatism have truly paid off, with the tea party, in 2010, and 2014, and she gave us our only Senate seat pick up in the dismal 2012 Romney debacle, and she helped give us Cruz in Texas.

“, he is the only one on the scene who will transform the Roberts GOP—”

A little conspiracy theory-ish by me, but imagine that Roberts has in fact been compromised by someone holding information on him of some past transgression. Who other than Ted would get into the highest office, investigate it and make it known???? A Dim? No way. A Rino? No way. Ted? I think so.

I love how obviously Cruz adores his little girls. My favorite story so far is when his little “Rascal” had gotten into big trouble with Heidi over a tantrum.

That night when they were saying bedtime prayers, his little girl raised her hand up in the air and said, “Dear Jesus, today we had a Situation. And I am not sorry. But it is not going to happen again”. :):)

Let’s hope and pray that the majority of Americans share your feelings- He has even sort of intimated that the supreme court justices who VIOLATED their oath I n the past two decisions were on notice for possible impeachment- not in so many words, but He’s very angry with them and may take action against them if he follows through with his statements about their decisions- It would be a GREAT thing for America IF the supreme court was wiped clean of it’s judicial activists, and replaced with TRUE objective impartial judges- Liberals would get a very clear message that their days of violating our rights and laws are OVER! and that we’re serious about restoring law and order and judicial integrity I n this nation!

May God raise up such a president! If He doesn’t- This country is doomed- it may already be irreparably damaged -

So, how do you protect embassies abroad with pulling out of the areas you mentioned?

If I may butt in, I’d put State Department slugs, ...I mean Diplomats, in charge of security. And I’d give them Hilliary’s personal number if they should run into any troubles.

A few years ago a group of my Houston lady friends took a girls trip to NYC. One of their stops was a visit to the Today show and a scheduled visit with the perky one. Couric took one look at the group, snorted, made an ugly face and announced “I am not meeting with them”.

Try to imagine how those women hate her now!

What? Do you believe we’ve always parked battalions of troops around all our embassies?
