I do think that if NICS background checks are at record highs, it's wishful thinking to believe that fewer households have guns than did 40 years ago.

And if you do that the US has a similar homicide rate to Norway. I think it's safe to say that Norwegian-Americans kill each other at about the same rate as Norwegian-Norwegians. (Some states -- states with high ownership of guns, but few blacks, have murder rates about the same as the UK and Germany. Other jurisdictions, like DC, with many blacks but few guns, have sky-high homicide rates.)

Hmmmm. Scotus rules that the 14th applies to perceived rights but not to actual non-infringible rights? Sounds right. At least if it were to ever come to them making a call on it. But they’d probably turn down any case brought before them unless it will clearly undermine the 2nd.
