I might’ve grabbed a rifle or shotgun to have in lieu of a pistol on the off chance they return before police arrive, but I wouldn’t have pursued outside unless outside was still on my property (i.e. a large plot of land or homestead).

Call me paranoid, but I get so few knocks at my door that I always have a handgun behind my back if I open the door for any reason. It just seems prudent.

If I lived in a “busy” area, I would rig my front door with a remote opener and stand back to one side when activating it.
