A large pool of unqualified affirmative action students also leads to the wholesale dumbing down of curricula. If too many minority students flunk out, the universities don't meet their desired quota, so professors are pressured to lower standards and inflate grades across the board. This means that those who have the cognitive ability and work ethic get cheated out of a more rigorous education.

Of course, some of this is avoided by the fact that affirmative action students flock to non-majors like "African American Studies" or "Chicano Studies," which may be a good thing because it creates less of a downward pressure on legitimate courses and programs of study.
