Time for Choosing: Other Than Ted Cruz, No Other Candidate has Supported Trump

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) thinks NBC was wrong to cut off its business relationship with real-estate mogul and television personality Donald Trump.

"When it comes to Donald Trump, I like Donald Trump. I think he's terrific. I think he's brash. I think he speaks the truth," Cruz said Tuesday morning on Fox & Friends.

Donald Trump later thanked Cruz via Twitter

Cruz said NBC "is engaging in political correctness that is silly and that is wrong." "I don't think you should apologize for speaking out against the problem that is illegal immigration. I recognize that the PC world of the mainstream media, they don't want to admit it, but the American people are fed up," he said. "Donald Trump is exactly right to highlight the need" to crack down on illegal immigration. Asked if Mexican migrants are "mostly" rapists and drug dealers, Cruz replied: "They're not mostly that. But Donald Trump — he has a way of speaking that gets attention. And I credit him for focusing on an issue that needs to be focused on." Trump appreciated Cruz's comments, tweeting a "thank you" to him Tuesday morning:

RE: Other Than Ted Cruz, No Other Candidate has Supported Trump

ONLY on Trump’s statement about illegal immigration.

Let’s not give the impression that he and Trump agree on most other issues.

Trump is a huge supporter of Hillary Clinton. Take what you want from the fact that (1) the race he jumps into is the best Republican field since 1980, after some absurdly weak fields, (2) he’s positioning himself to draw support from everyone but Bush, (3) Bush is the only candidate likely to lose to Clinton.

He’s called Bill Clinton the best president in his lifetime. I agree entirely with this prediction by Hot Air columnist Allahpundit:

“Here’s the easiest prediction of the election, dedicated to everyone who thinks Trump’s days of boosting Hillary are behind him. He’ll spend the next six months tearing down the most credible candidates in the GOP field, and then, when he eventually drops out of the race, he’ll reserve his harshest criticism during next year’s general-election campaign for the GOP nominee rather than Hillary.”

Ted agrees on many issues with Donald Trump. Ted obviously believes Trump is an important voice in the contest.

Moreover, Ted has said many of the same things Trump has said and has been vilified for it by RINOs, liberal media, and Democrats.

Trump lacks Ted’s presidential temperament and demeanor, however.

I personally don’t believe Trump will stay in the race to become POTUS. He would be bored to tears. I believe he is throwing shade right now for a true conservative like Ted Cruz.

Do you honestly think you need to point that out to people here?

There is this really strange dynamic playing out on the forum right now where some FReepers seem to think they need to protect other FReepers from themselves.

I think most FReepers here know exactly who Donald Trump is.

You obviously don’t agree.

I’ll bet there isn’t one FReeper on the forum who thinks Ted Cruz agrees with all of Trump’s political views.

Right. I don’t see many eggs around here either, but it’s hard to not notice all of the self appointed mother hens.

Well, if you are going to make a statement like that, please provide the facts to back it up!

I think this might be genius political maneuvering. Trump stays long enough to get the discussion headed in the right direction. Then bows out and throws his support to Cruz, who right now the media is keeping out of the spotlight.
They know they can’t let the US hear Cruz or it’s over.
They think Trump is hurting us, but what he’s really doing is putting a bee in the bonnet of the American voter.

No matter who the 2016 GOP candidate is, Freepers will reject him.

FR has never supported a GOP candidate.

Soros thanks you.

Cruz and Trump are close on many issues....but not all. They, along with Fiorina, are the most feisty of the candidates (Trump this week no doubt) - and this year feisty is going to play very well with Republican voters.

The superior Cruz brain is showing, again.

Would that they all speak truth to power, and pepper it with some Trump styled bravado, then we could move the dial.

Ted has the presidential temperament and demeanor that our country needs.

Trump knows how to get headlines. He is a billionaire male version of Ann Coulter.

Cruz remembers the Eleventh Commandment. Though calling Donald Trump a “Republican” requires a corollary.

Your post #13 is right on point.

Cruz, Trump, and Fiorina ALL speak the TRUTH in attacking what's occurred and continues to occur.
