your post 78 is very well put......

And it’s funny - in a sad way - I am working on an article with the working title “The Lie that Must Be Corrected” - which is that conservatism and the free market is what caused the econ crash of 08. Bush still gets blamed for that - almost the exact same percentage who voted for Obama, and the Republicans will NEVER eVER win the WH again til it’s corrected IMO.

Its really the entire theme of my book, frankly...

Remember the bombing of the troop quarters in Lebanon many years ago?

Was that Reagan’s fault? The media and talking heads made sure it was labeled that way.

In truth it was his military leader on the ground whose lackluster preventative measures cost us dearly.

You couldn’t even talk to Conservatives at the time about it. It was Reagan’s fault for even sending troops in.

That was dead wrong. I’m not saying it was right to send the troops in, but I am saying regardless, that truck filled with explosives should never have been able to get to those quarters.

I know that Bush got most of the blame for the Lending Industry led collapse. In truth it was the Left that fostered the problem and led us to the crash.

My problem with Bush, and frankly I think he deserves all the blame he gets, is that he didn’t scream bloody murder about what was going to take place if things weren’t address. And then we also have to remember he had majorities in both houses of Congress, and they did absolutely nothing when they had the chance.

If Bush had only used his bully pulpit to alert the nation and complain that Congress wouldn’t act, when things did explode, he would have been vindicated. He didn’t. He got stuck with it. It’s his own fault.

The problem for us was, the blow-back didn’t just hit Bush in the face. It hit Conservatives in the face. The media was quick to link Bush and Conservatism as the people who led the nation to this mess.

Whose fault was that?

Bush had this nasty habit of not responding to things said about him. He was above all that. At least that seemed to be his take on it. Many times I longed to have the guy defend my ideals. Many times it never happened and the Left prevailed or at least got the good unresponded to sound bites.

In this last failure of his administration, he ushered in Obama. I’m sorry, but that’s the long and the short of it.

You’ll get a lot of folks who love Bush objecting, but there’s no denying this failure on our part. If you can’t fix something, you have to scream bloody murder so the public knows the facts before the ultimate failure.

Otherwise you take the blame. And so Bush has.

Beyond that Conservatism has.

Beyond that Capitalism has.

Bush was nearly a fatal blow to Conservatism.

Look at it’s fate today and tell me it’s better off after his term in office than before his term in office.
