Vladimir Putin masses tanks and troops inside Ukraine as war threatens to escalate

VLADIMIR PUTIN is massing Russian tanks deep within Ukraine's borders, it emerged today, as the fierce war gripping the country looks set to enter its bloodiest phase yet.

Video shot from a drone unveiled a massive Russian military camp some 15 miles inside Ukraine, and just 10 miles from the front line where fierce fighting has taken place between Government forces and Moscow-backed rebels.

In the damning footage Russian T-72 tanks, construction equipment and tents can be seen massed together in a woodland clearing.

The pro-Kiev group Dnipro-1, which released the video, said it had conducted two fly-bys with the drone which showed that Russian military action in the area is growing by the day.

The first film, shot on May 20, shows tanks, petrol tank lorries, tents and about 70 soldiers at the site.

However by the time the drone flew past for a second time, on June 4, evidence of a "powerful war camp" complete with a command centre, roads and trenches was starting to emerge.

“The war in Ukraine was sparked when pro-democracy campaigners in favour of closer integration with the EU toppled president Viktor Yanukovych, a known ally of Putin, and imposed their own government.”

Hmmm.

Anybody else notice that Putin wouldn’t have had an excuse to intervene in Ukraine if Comrade Chairman Obumble hadn’t , so flexibly, manufactured it for him?

The Russians sold advanced anti-tank weapons to Iraq, prior to the second Gulf War. Looks like time to return the favor. Preferably with their own stuff

You mean Obama caused the Ukrainians to want to have closer relations with Western Europe? I don’t think so. I think that the Ukrainians, like the rest of Eastern Europe who suffered under cruel and murderous Russian and Soviet dominance for so long, know Putin for what he is. They see Putin as an atavistic autocrat, a third world type of president-for-life, a pseudo conservative, a former KGB thug, a kleptocrat running a gangster state, and a chauvinistic nutjob. The Ukrainians want to be free to go their own way. Why that seems odd or strange to any freedom loving American is beyond me. The Putin worshipers apparently think all small nations should bow down to Putin. But small nations have a right to be free.

So in an entire year of war the Russians have only managed to make it 25 miles into Ukrainian territory? (Not counting Crimea)

No.

More like:

“Obama openly admits ‘brokering power transition’ in Ukraine”

Something to be expected from Darth ZBig’s protege.

Uhuh. Weren’t their advisers were still scurrying out of the country [Iraq] in March 2003?

“Vladimir Putin has repeatedly denied sending tanks and troops into Russia”.

Why wouldn’t he deny sending troops and tanks into his own country?

Believe it or not, fall out from the Gay Marriage Decision.

In the eyes of ethnic Russians, the US is a paper tiger made up of a bunch of Godless limp wristed gays.

Its coming....

Oh, so Ukraine is, in your mind, part of Russia. I suppose by that logic England is part of the USA.

I agree with you, and I think also that the Obama administration is antagonistic towards the Putin regime due to it’s rejection of the gay agenda. That’s strange, since it’s been so supportive of Muslims who throw gays off a roof.

1. More Ukie propaganda. Dniepro-1, if you check, is not a “pro-Kiev” group, but a neo-Nazi battalion largely funded by the Ukrainian oligarch Kolomoisky. They have been accused by Amnesty International of serious war crimes including starvation of civilians.

2. The “pro-democracy” demonstrators in Kiev were actually anti-democracy” demonstrators since, spearheaded by neo-Nazis, they violently overhrew a government recognized even by the West as legitimately elected.

3. The rebellion in Crimea and Donbass occurred as a result of residents there protesting the overthrow of a government they voted for by 80%+. Like the Kiev demonstrators, they took over government buildings in their areas in protest. But rebelling against an illegitimate government was a “terrorist” act in Crimea and East Ukraine, whereas overthrowing a legitimate government in Kiev was an act of “democracy.”

4. Kiev launched the war against their own people, of largely Russian ethnicity, in the East; not the other way around. Russians today are not to blame for Stalinism under which they suffered as much or more as those of other nationalities.

5. Putin rescued Russia from being raped by Western bankers and Yeltsin era oligarchs. Even Pew, an American polling firm, puts his approval rating at 89%, twice Obama’s.

6. No less a personage than Alexander Solzhentizyn said this: “Vladimir Putin — yes, he was an officer of the intelligence services, but he was not a KGB investigator, nor was he the head of a camp in the gulag. As for service in foreign intelligence, that is not a negative in any country — sometimes it even draws praise. George Bush Sr. was not much criticized for being the ex-head of the CIA, for example.” http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/spiegel-interview-with-alexander-solzhenitsyn-i-am-not-afraid-of-death-a-496003.html In the same interview, the great dissident also said: “Putin inherited a ransacked and bewildered country, with a poor and demoralized people. And he started to do what was possible — a slow and gradual restoration. These efforts were not noticed, nor appreciated, immediately. In any case, one is hard pressed to find examples in history when steps by one country to restore its strength were met favorably by other governments.”

7. Why can’t Crimea and Donbass be “allowed to go their own way”? Russia allowed Ukraine to vote to leave the Soviet Union; Britain gave Scotland a referendum on leaving, likewise Canada for Quebec. Like the residents of Donbass, the American colonists fought for freedom from a unitary state.

8. Putin is a “pseudo-conservative?” Wish we had some of those here. Abortion banned after 12 weeks in Russia; abortion advertising banned; bonus of $9200 for having each child after the first. Putin cracked down on radical feminist “Pussy Riot” for desecrating the Moscow cathedral.
(they “got what they asked for” - imprisonment; homosexual propaganda aimed at minors has been banned; Christianity and religion have been restored to a central place in society with moral education required in schools. Putin has denounced multiculturalism, reverse discrimination, mass immigration, excessive welfare spending, global warming baloney, money printing, among other things. Russia has a 13% flat tax (v. top tax rate of 35% in US); no estate tax; the top corporate tax rate is 20% v. 40% in the US. The Russian sovereign debt as a percentage of GDP is less than 18% v. 101% for the US. All these facts are easily confirmed by Google.

8. The truth is that Russia is leading the International Right and the US and EU the International Left.

Actually, I live in Washington, D.C. and am a retired USG lawyer and senior executive. I notice neither you nor the OP take issue with any of the facts stated.
