After consulting with military leaders at the Pentagon this afternoon President Obama held a press conference on the growing threat of ISIS. President Obama declared the United States "will never be at war with Islam." Obama also said, "ideologies are not defeated with guns but better ideas."
"We'll constantly reaffirm through words and deeds that we will never be at war with Islam," President Obama said Monday afternoon. "We are fighting terrorists who distort islam and its victims are mostly Muslims."
"This challenge of countering violent extremism is not simply a military effort," the president said. "Ideologies are not defeated with guns but better ideas and more attracting and more compelling vision."

Ideologies are not defeated with guns, they are defeated by better ideas and more attractive and more compelling vision. So the United States will continue to do our part by continuing to counter ISIL's hateful propaganda, especially online. We'll constantly reaffirm through words and deeds that we will never be at war with Islam. We are fighting terrorists who distort islam and its victims are mostly Muslims.
We're also going to partner with Muslim communities as they seek the prosperity and dignity they observe. And we're going to expect those communities to step up in terms of pushing back as hard as they can in conjunction with other people of good will against these hateful ideologies, particularly when it comes to what we're teaching young people.

I dunno. Guns defeated nazism. I don’t have to think much further than that.
He doesn't have any "better ideas". He's just trying to sidestep any responsibility for the abject failure of his military campaign against ISIS by promulgating the fatuous notion that it doesn't matter because there really isn't a military solution to the problem, anyway.
The Romans learned this lesson well. Carthage was always a threat to Rome so when Rome eventually invaded Carthage and defeated them they killed every last one of them. Then they razed their city and poured salt over the land so nothing would ever grow there again. When you defeat evil it is not sufficient to simply win, you must absolutely destroy all seeds. You must not simply win the war you must win all future wars at the same time.

I’m reading a book about Dietrich Bonhoffer right now. Many people are probably pretty familar with him; but I hadn’t read much about him.
The picture painted about Germany in the early 30’s is pretty sobering.
Like now; there was an ignorance of the evil that was growing. Many people just didn’t want to see it and hoped it would go away.

What is Obama’s great idea? Putting 30 million more people on food stamps. His ideology sucks, it doesn’t create wealth, he only takes it away. The black poor are worse off, (but that helps the Dems in the next election.) All leftist governments suck at pulling people out of poverty. They are run by thieves who call themselves liberators. Whatever you build, they thought they built, and then help themselves to it. Sooner or later people stop building, as the communists run out of other peoples’ money.

Yep. When Emperor Hirohito saw the wisdom of our better ideas, he packed up his army, warships, and kamikazes and went peacefully back to Japan. It’s a good thing too. Otherwise, millions would have lost their lives all over the Pacific and his Island nation would have been effectively destroyed.
