First Cousin Marriages In Pakistani Communities Leading To 'Appalling' Disabilities Among Children

By Steven Swinford, 07 Jul 2015 Couples who are getting married should be forced to have a DNA test first to ensure they are not cousins amid growing concern about incest within Pakistani communities, Britain's first Asian peer has claimed. Baroness Flather, a former Tory who now sits as a cross-bencher, said in the House of Lords that it is "absolutely appalling" that first cousin marriages in Pakistani communities are leading to "so much disability among children".

She said: "There are a lot of first-cousin marriages in certain communities, particularly among Pakistanis who come from the Pakistani Kashmir area. We know so much about DNA now, but there is so much disability among the children, which is absolutely appalling.

"You go to any such family and there will be four or five children, at least one or two of whom will have some disability. That is absolutely unacceptable, and if we cannot do anything about it, is it fair to the children?"

Baroness Flather, a former barrister who was born in the Pakistani city of Lahore when it was part of India, said: "Never mind the parents — it is not fair to the children that they should be allowed to become disabled because of a social practice. It is a social practice which does not belong in today’s age, when we know so much about DNA. There should at least be some rule which says that you must have a DNA examination before your marriage can be registered."

Actually, rampant inbreeding and it’s inevitable genetic consequences explain a lot about the Middle East under Islam.

I think you are not far off. Just found this:

Muslim Inbreeding May Be Genetic Catastrophe…
http://dcgazette.com/muslim-inbreeding-may-genetic-catastrophe/#

> Snip <

Combining his own research and several studies, Sennels says the genetic damage of such intermarriage, which is part of Islamic religion and culture since their prophet, Mohammad, allowed it, is causing lower intelligence (IQs), increased physical defects and greater incident of mental illness.

Almost half of Muslims worldwide are estimated to be inbred, with 70 percent of marriages in Pakistan, 67 percent in Saudi Arabia and 80 percent in Nubia in southern Egypt in consanguineous (blood-related) marriages to first cousins, to name just a few of the countries, he cites.

Special education costs for slow learners consume a third of the budget of Danish schools, and Muslim immigrants and their children have a very high rate of unemployment because of limited skills, he says.

Well, I can easily say something like this about “gay” marriage and adoption.

“Never mind the “parents” — it is not fair to the children that they should be allowed to become emotionally disabled because of a social practice. It is a social practice which does not belong in today’s age, when we know so much about psychology and the negative impacts of children not having both a mother and a father.”

Pakistan should have a giant fence put up around it. Nothing good comes from it

Who is he to pass judgement on another’s culture? All cultures are equal, but some are more equal that others.

Sibling rape is also a problem in Pakistan. And the solution is always the same: an honor killing of the sister to restore the honor of the brother. When women are devalued to somewhere around cattle status, it’s no big thing to just put them down.

First cousin marriage is not in and of itself that much more likely to cause genetic harm. Not in the first generation.

But continue it for generation after generation, and bad things happen.

Which is quite odd, because some Muslin communities have had this as routine practice for more than 1000 years. They should have crossed the genetic Armageddon line centuries ago, and that just doesn’t seem to be the case.

Cousin, goat, cousin, goat, cousin, sheep, goat, cousin.

The typical family tree of Islam.

Jews had cousin marriages, but not such close relations, for hundreds of years too, FWIW. Amish have a problem too.

Most people will be descended from first cousin marriages at some point. Wasn’t a whole lot of choice in the days when most didn’t venture further than 20 miles from where they were born.

Besides, as another poster said, cousin marriages as an exception are not harmful, only if you do it generation after generation.

My Daddy used to really be strict & disapproving on incestuous relationships. . even distant cousin friendships were not tolerated.
