The Supreme Court could not have been clearer when it ruled late last month that states may not refuse to marry same-sex couples.
But in several states where the resistance to marriage equality has been most entrenched, government officials whose job it is to license or perform marriages continue to misunderstand, stall or flatly defy the court. However they justify these tactics, their conduct is illegal and they must stop.
These public employees seem to forget that taxpayers pay them to do their job. If doing that job violates his or her religious beliefs, the best solution is to find another job, as several have done in the days since the Obergefell ruling.
Government employees do not have a constitutionally protected right to pick and choose which members of the public they will serve, no matter their religious beliefs.
The Constitution’s protection of religious freedom simply does not include the right to discriminate against others in the public sphere.

And here I thought the employer, including government, was to give reasonable accommodation to an employees religious belief.
The hypocrisy is breathtaking. As has been noted above, Obama flat out said he will not be enforcing the law with regard to immigration and will also be imposing an illegal executive amnesty. We also have the sanctuary cities. How can anyone take the Times seriously?

It’s not a matter “religious liberty”. It is freedom in general. The freedom to associate with whom we want. The freedom to do business with whom we want. The right to use and control our property as we see fit.

Only 3 of 9 judges on the so called Supreme Court are just judges and God will judge those 6 who despise and hate him, Roberts included.

Absolutely agree. To go just a bit further, it is also about the freedom of a people to decide what is right and wrong and not be dictated to by self-appointed philosopher kings. How can there be “outrage” when the SCOTUS deliberately created a Vice System——only a system to promote vile, evil use of others and to normalize this elimination of biological “parents” for children. (Forcing pure Marxism or/and paganism).
We don’t have a “Justice” System anymore (or a Constitution).
Why? Because Montesquieu and the Founders (and Cicero) all knew that when Just Law ceases to be Just (virtuous), it will collapse civil society.
All Laws have to promote “Justice” (Virtue) to be Just........as they stated at the Nuremberg Trials.
How is a law “Just” in America——well, it WAS ONLY JUST-—if it aligned to Christian Ethics where you could never use human beings as a Means to an End-———which they destroyed in the 60s and 70s with allowing porn and obscenity and abortion to destroy our children and corrupt their perceptions of others. To literally flip “Good and Evil” and “Justice” to the pagan, Marxist worldview where stealing (welfare) from others is “good”-—where it is “Good” to use others (or kill—abortion/euthanasis—(man is god) ) for diabolical narcissistic, evil reasons.
It is Worldview (RELIGION) that SCOTUS is forcing on us-—a pagan, demonic religion of Ba’al Worship———that which mocks God’s Design of the human body (Truth/God/Reason) and reduces life to Excrement.
It mocks Natural Law and God’s Law-—the basis of Rule of Law (Higher Law than man’s) and establishes Rule of Man.
Justice Oliver W. Holmes removed Virtue from Justice (unconstitutional).....which is a contradiction (Paganism). You can NEVER remove Virtue (Christian Ethics in America) from Justice.....you get paganism or Satanism of whatever which is ALL antithetical to our Constitution and Rule of Law.
The illogical 5 to 4 Supreme Court decision, does not instantly repeal thousands of years of Western theology, or the historic strivings of decent people to achieve strong families reflecting the multi-generational purpose of sapient life forms.
One observes in another thread, that the major Russian political party, has responded to our developing lunacy with a new banner to honor real family formation. Future history will, without the slightest doubt, treat the Supreme Court decision, with ridicule, citing such journalistic outbursts as the Times article, with all the respect now shown for the Dutch Tulip bubble and the Salem Withch Trials.
