Is a mini ICE AGE on the way? Scientists warn the sun will go to sleep in 2030 & cause temps to drop

The Earth could be headed for a 'mini ice age' researchers have warned.

A new study claims to have cracked predicting solar cycles - and says that between 2020 and 2030 solar cycles will cancel each other out.

This, they say, will lead to a phenomenon known as the 'Maunder minimum' - which has previously been known as a mini ice age when it hit between 1646 and 1715, even causing London's River Thames to freeze over.

Wait.
Never mind.

I remember in the 1970’s the talking heads of the time were trumpeting the possibility of another ice age. Didn’t happen. Between then and now, all you heard about was global warming. The planet gets warmer...it gets colder. How hard is that to understand?

On a side note, it’s July 10th, and DFW has yet to report a 100 degree high temperature. So, maybe there is something to this global cooling after all.

And it cycles down periodically every so often for a few thousand years and the earth is covered ice. Ice Ages happen with regularity. This interglacial period has lasted longer than most.

I envy you. Here in Maine, last February was the coldest month in the state’s history. Plus, we had eight feet of snow in three weeks in my area in February 2015.

Today, however, it was 90 degrees and very humid. 71 degrees in Ohio sounds good to me.

I heard/read about that theory a while back. It sounded plausible. Since I now know there’s a book, it’s on my (ever extending) reading list.

Our last two winters here were brutal.Got cold and stayed cold, had 2 feet of ice on our pond.Burned a mountain of firewood, about 25 cords per year.

Yep, there is no Climate Science, only some scientists trying to develop same and a ton of leftist warmnistas trying to wreck the global economy.

Real cords or face cords?

It was real cords.I measured our huge wood pile and did the math.Big old Victorian farmhouse and a large outdoor burner=big wood consumption.

I don’t think the 60% is the total solar energy input at the top of the atmosphere. Sunspot count or something else.

You need some insulation, badly.

I have heard that those outdoor burners can be very ineffecient, but 25 full cords a winter is excessive.

It sounds like what we burned when I was a kid!

Rough estimate, 8 truckloads of mill slabwood, Each truckload was about 4 full cords...

But that slabwood is pretty poor firewood.

Bought a new Echo chainsaw 2 years ago,it came with a 5 year warranty. They may come to regret that.
Actually, the saw has run flawlessly.I’ve cut about 60 cords and the only thing to wear was the sprocket,16 bucks for a replacement.

There really are climatologists, but they tend to disagree with the climate modellers.

Climatologists have real measurements, with real instruments.

That’s right Paladin..the 60% figure refers to activity.....

It’s not a very descriptive term but it means sunspots and CME’s or perhaps the associated coronal expansions and contractions..

There is a good understanding of what is normal.

What they are saying is that their prediction is 60% below normal.

Coincidently, it is occasional increases above normal that spurred the global warming nonsense in the late 90s during a extended high activity period.

A 60% drop from normal definitely means global cooling.

The best I've seen is Joe Bastardi who seems to be able to use historical data to do pretty well with ~6 months out.

Nobody seems to do well at predicting things beyond their career time (~30 yr). Hence there is no rocket type of Science. Not even engineering. Ouija boards are about all they have for ~100 yr.
