My wife made a comment to me yesterday about Bastille Day, and some celebration for it.
I said something like “Oh. Bastille Day, the day where the mob took over, and turned into a bloodthirsty, vengeful, irrational Lord of The Flies rabble that ate itself beginning at its own tail? THAT Bastille Day that someone wants to celebrate?”
She had no idea what I was talking about.
Goodness. As bad as history teaching had gotten in the 80s in high school, they were still teaching about the reign of terror in France back then.

I’ve said the same thing and gotten the same reactions.
Next time around we’ll be closer to the French Revolution than the American War of Independence, though.
