An iconic Texas restaurant chain will not allow the open carrying of guns on its properties, and industry experts say other restaurants will likely take the same stand against a new state law legalizing the practice in many public places.

If you are carrying openly, then just drape your t-shirt over your gun before entering, and you can uncover after exiting.

Then you had better have a concealed-carry permit, or a good lawyer. Because I'm guessing some cop - and then some liberal judge - would just love to make a test case out of you.

Sad that in the US we even have to consider such things.

“If a Christian baker can be forced to “follow” the law, then why can’t Whataburger be forced to “follow” the law as well? “

From the article: “The law, which gives private property owners the right to prohibit open carry”

Just got back from Wichita KS.
Their regs on concealed carry are wacky. Holiday Inn has never posted “no guns” signs in my 15 years of staying at their hotels across U.S.
They only have to post the gun with red circle and slash to prevent concealed carry. However, if I read the regs correctly, you CAN carry open.
The regs also state the signage warning does not carry rule of law. They can only ask you to leave if concealed carry is found. Prosecution only if you refuse to leave.
By the way, Wichita is in the same league as Dallas and Cleveland. Not Detroit yet, but typical gang bangers and regular shootings.
Stay armed my friends, the life you save may be your own.

I've been told that the law on this varies greatly from state to state.

“If a Christian baker can be forced to “follow” the law, then why can’t Whataburger be forced to “follow” the law as well?”

With a difference being that there is nothing in the Bill of Rights guaranteeing a homosexualist the right to force a baker to bake him/her/it a cake while there is a right to keep and bear arms.

And unstated but a good point—Whataburger shouldn’t be forced to allow on their premises patrons with visible firearms or face crippling fines anymore than a baker should be compelled to kowtow to homos or be fined out of business.

Anyone who doesn’t like the policy can eat somewhere else. But the Democrats and their GOP-e allies believe different. We need a conservative party.

I wasn’t that thrilled with In-N-Out. It is OK but certainly not as awesome as people made it seem.

This move only alerts thugs and terrorists that it’s open season at those restaurants.

“vic would have to prove, as a matter of law, that his being armed would have stopped/prevented crime.”

Would this qualify?

In 2004, there were more than a few Libtards driving around town with F**K Bush stickers on their Cars.

Never saw a one pulled over for Public Indecency.

I’m sure the Minivan driving Soccer Moms hauling their Kids all over Town were thrilled pulling up behind those guys.

Not sure how it’s nonsense when you just made the argument for me. Of course he would. And that alone shows there’s a legale argument to be made. Forget any injuries involved.

Stores regularly post do not XXX and get sued all the time after being found negligent.

I cannot post to #1, so this goes to all: it is my house and I do not want you open-carrying in it. Not that you are not welcome, just leave your guns in your truck or conceal them. It is my house, don’t like it? Build your own house.
Nothing wrong with Whataburger, you essentially build your own burger, what is wrong with that?
I have been to Whataburgers in Oklahoma and Birmingham, Alabama.
I really fail to see a problem with the anti- open-carry. This is going to happen more and more.
I do not believe in open carry~ flame away.

They are following the law. Private property trumps a lot. You have second amendment rights in public property and your own property, on my property it’s my rules and I personally don’t like people not me or the wife being armed. I also get to tell you you can’t talk “like that” in my home. Whataburger doesn’t feel like having armed people they don’t have to, and you’re free to not go there if you don’t like their rules. That’s how freedom actually works.

It is NOT a no-gun rule, it is an open-carry rule.
My house, my rules. They have the right.
They (Whataburger) have no problem with CCL’s.

My personal opinion for what it’s worth. Any citizen who has not forfeited their right to purchase a fire arm should be allowed to carry anywhere, concealed or open with one exception. A business owner should be allowed to post a NO OPEN CARRY in this establishment, sign and have the legal right for that to be enforced. This would most likely be long arms. There should be NO Gun Free Zones anywhere in America.

I really ‘did’ like What-A-Burger but now it’s The Rig (local Ft, Worth roadhouse) and In and Out Burger for me. Unless they come back to Texas.

And thats fine. And I’m fine with them saying anything they want. Their property, their call. No issue at all. But they would still be liable because of it.

I’m not a big Proponent of Open Carry. If that’s Whataburgers Policy, you either understand it and continue to give them your Business or you go somewhere else.

I think that Open Carry would make someone the first Target of a Criminal meaning to do Harm to you or others.

Once you lose the Element of Surprise, the odds of taking the Criminal out are reduced.

In this day and age we have a large Populace that fears Guns. They have an irrational Fear of seeing an exposed Weapon and Whataburger is attempting to find a middle ground to satisfy those who choose to be Armed and those who Pee their Pants at the mere sight of a Gun.

They are in Business to stay in Business.
