Worked at the Forest Hills WB about 43 years ago as a teenager.

Never ate the "patties" because they frequently had a green tint, particularly the small ones that moved slower.

Always ate the fish sandwiches.

Misnomer and knee-jerk about them. They don’t wish for folks to open carry in the store but have no objection to concealed carry. I am in MS and open carry is fine and I do go that way when out of doors. I also tend to cover my weapon when going into any establishments as a personal preference and as a courtesy because it is usually not the establishment, but some of the nut-case clients that usually goes bonkers and causes a row about weapons. Even covered, in the Summer, my weapon can be pretty obvious so most places are aware I have it anyway - even Whataburger.

I don’t see this as an Anti-Gun stance.

They are a Business that deals with a myriad of Customers, not just Gun Owners. People are acting like the new Open Carry Law is supported by 100% of the Texas Population, it is not.

Whataburger simply realized that many of their Customers might feel uncomfortable seeing an exposed Weapon when they come in to have a Meal with their Families.

Just because WE may not feel that way, many others do.

It is a delicate balancing act, and I think they figured they would lose more Customers by allowing Open Carry than not.

They allow Concealed, so what exactly is the Problem?
Stick the Pistol in your Waistband and go chow down.

You’re saying exactly what I’m saying after that line. Its just a business decision. Pure and simple. I’m not going to be unreasonable and have a knee-jerk reaction. I’ll leave that to the liberals who are much better than I am at being perpetually offended, professional grade...: )

I’m not a big open carry person myself. I think much if it has to do with ego. Once you’ve carried for a long time its just like carrying a wallet or your sunglasses around.

I wonder what percentage of that “ don’t bother to get a license” group is comprised of people who don’t think the government has the “right” to tax and license citizens, based on the “shall not be infringed” in the 2nd amendment wording.....
or just plain out do not want their name on another government list in case of future “confiscation.”

“Shall not be infringed” is the problem. Compromise has led to the ridiculous attitude of those “uncomfortable” people. I grew up with guns and it was never an issue, anywhere, at any time.

A Private Business can “infringe” Open Carry of Firearms on their own Property.

It has nothing to do with the Second Amendment but I understand your frustration.

I also grew up Shooting Guns and I “owned” a .22 Rifle and a .410 Single Shot Shotgun when I was Eight Years Old.
Kept them in my Bedroom Closet along with the Ammunition.
No Gun Safe, no Trigger Locks, nothing.

Today my Parents would be in Jail for allowing such behavior. They also let me Ride my Schwinn Stingray to School and pretty much anywhere else as long as I was Home for Dinner. Bike Helmet, we didn’t need no stinking Bike Helmet.

Oh I forgot, my Older Brother used to carry his Rifle to High School in Long Island, NY. He was in the School Gun Club and there was an on Campus Gun Range. Nobody cared.

Sounds as if you and I were both brought up by common sense parents who wanted us to grow up as responsible citizens. I rode my bike (Schwinn also)or skated to and from school every day.

It used to be my job to clean the guns when we came home from hunting. Still love the smell of gunpowder.....in fact it’s my favorite perfume! Still hunt whenever the chance presents itself, and shoot trap.....and my pistol. Got my CCP too.

I’m in Southern CA. When I was in my 20’s, I used to have a Big Badass Ford 4x4 (with big fat Tires and everything) and I always had a couple of Rifles in the Gun Rack in case I felt like running up to the Angeles National Forest to go Shooting. Back then in the 70’s, nobody batted an eye.

My FRiend, the Freedoms we enjoyed in our Youth are now lost to the ages with the Blessing of our fellow Citizens.
I never thought I would see the day, but here we are.

BTW - The only way I can get a Concealed Carry license is if our esteemed Senator Diane Feinstein Adopts me. LOL

it is very distressing that so many women have such an unreasonable fear of guns. It infuriates me how silly and disgusting they can be. Feinstein is a basket case and i wonder how she keeps being elected....but then so many of the libbers are liberals and all are not worth the powder and shot to blow them up. I had a tee shirt made which I love to wear to some of my meetings of “literary” types...it reads, PISTOL PACKIN’ GRANDMAMA....DON’T MESS WITH ME! You should see their faces hahahahah! A lot of guys in the groups........and some girlyy girls......

Florida encourages concealed carry. Very easy to qualify if you’re “gun and safety smart.” Of course we have a Republican governor!

A Friend of my Parents was a Nassau County NY Detective.

He and his Wife were visiting us in CA and my Older Brother wanted to show the Husband a new Ruger Revolver he had just purchased.

When my Brother walked into the Room holding the Pistol, the Friend’s Wife went ballistic. She started screaming at her Husband, get that Gun out of here. She was acting completely insane running around the room and everyone was taken aback, even her Husband.

Her Husband carried a .38 for Years as a Detective, but he never took in inside their House. He always left it in the Garage on his way in from Work. Now we know why.

The Wife of a Cop and she was having a Mental Breakdown over the mere sight of a Firearm. I was a Kid at the time and remember the surreal image like it was yesterday.

I wonder how some People could survive if the SHTF.

You have it exactly right. How would they survive. My grandparents homesteaded in the west, granddad a cowboy and grandmom a school teacher. Granddad was often away on trail drives, buying supplies, etc. and grandmother would shoot prairie chickens for the children’s food. She was a crack shot with rifle, shotgun, or pistol. Granddad wore a .45 on each hip. All five children were brought up with guns and all hunted. My favorite picture of my mother was taken by my dad shortly after they were married. She is “posing” in the duck boat with her twelve gauge. I grew up hunting and fishing. Three out of four siblings followed suit. My three children are all shooters and my grandchildren (6) are all “into” firearms. Personally, the happiest times of my life have been associated with hunting or competition with arms. I have fabulous memories nobody can take away from me. These silly idiots so afraid of firearms have no idea what they are missing.

The ballistic wife had been brainwashed somewhere along the way. Such irrational fear is a mental condition. Sad, but preventable. Schoolteachers and government officials are doing their very best to alienate children from the love of firearms. I get in their face, big time.
