Flashback to 2004.

That was when the nine Democrats, including Al Sharpton, ran for president.

Recall how fellow candidates like John Kerry, John Edwards, Richard Gephardt, Howard Dean -- as well as the mainstream media -- treated the controversial race hustler Sharpton with the deference reserved for a real candidate

Trump is a loose cannon whose own big mouth is his greatest enemy. He has been all over the map on every issue imaginable. His only purpose now is to disrupt the race, distract it away from more serious candidates, and perhaps a spoiler which only serve to guarantee Democrat victory.

Correct statement on all accounts.

Sometimes someone with a big mouth telling the truth to the masses is what is called for! Anyone want to step forward and point out where he has lied to the American people like the rest of the GOPe?

“The truth cuts the swiftest to the bone.” The truth is a hard thing to swallow sometimes.

A difference between Trump and Sharpton is that Sharpton had no chance of winning the nomination. Trump is not that surely a loser. Another difference is that Sharpton represented the mainstream of the Establishment Democrat Party’s doctrine and that Sharpton’s dismissal would possibly alienate the theretofore slave population of the Democrat Party. Trump is anathema to the mainstream Republican Establishment and bids to cut off what the Republican Establishment thinks is their own captive population, conservatives.

I disagree, I have been following feedback to Trump's statements online, and many blue collar union workers seem to be pro-Trump because of the issue of jobs.
If Trump goes rogue and runs as an independent there is a good chance he will take away Democratic AND Republican votes.

...emembering that Trump supported Hillary, Harry Reid, and others.

Speaking of her, Trump praised Hillary Clinton and her health-care reform plan — in 2007! She attended his (most recent) wedding. He donated to her campaigns and to the Clinton Foundation. In 2008, he couldn’t get his head around the fact that Obama didn’t pick her for VP. “I’m a big fan of Hillary. She’s a terrific woman. She’s a friend of mine.”

What’s not for Democrats to like?

(1) Pro-choice
“In 1999 he said, “I’m totally pro-choice. I hate it and I hate saying it. And I’m almost ashamed to say that I’m pro-choice but I am pro-choice because I think we have no choice.”

(2) Pathway to citizenship for 30 million illegals
“Trump: You have to give them a path. You have 20 million, 30 million, nobody knows what it is. It used to be 11 million. Now, today I hear it’s 11, but I don’t think it’s 11. I actually heard you probably have 30 million. You have to give them a path, and you have to make it possible for them to succeed. You have to do that.
(3) Government healthcare

Obamacare: The man wrote in his own book and said elsewhere that he was in favor of Canadian-style socialized medicine — which would put him to the left of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, and on pretty much the same page as Bernie Sanders.

(4) Supported Mitch McConnell in 2014 (over Tea Party candidate)

If you don’t like Trump today, stick around, he’ll change.

Superficially he does sound like a breath of fresh air. He says whatever is on his mind, says it forcefully, without any spin. He sounds like the real deal and I can see where this can resonate with a lot of voters. But...when you do your research...when you examine his past positions on nearly every issue imaginable...too many to list here...not to mention his past financial support for numerous Dem candidates...including HRC among others...there should be significant pause for concern and I think he should be thoroughly examined and vetted before given the keys to the WH. Something the people should have done with BHO back in 2008 when there was all this enthusiasm for “hope and change” and “yes we can” but very little in terms of a thorough background check on his radical background and associations.

I don’t think that is his “purpose.” not as envisioned by him, but that may well be his effect. I expect he will burn out early . If he then goes third party then he will cut the Republican vote a lot. I don’t think he will affect the actual Election result, though. A Soros company counts the electronic voting machine votes and aliens, legal and illegal will be voting in large numbers this time around. There will also probably be many millions of new citizens voting, too. Hussein can give citizenship to as many people as he chooses, regardless of what the law says. He makes the citizens by fiat and registers them to vote all in a week close to the election then forces their votes to be accepted and then nothing can be done about it. The courts will not overturn any election because of such votes. Election is no longer a realistic way to change anything in Washington. With the siting of imported illegals and legal “refugees” strategically around the country, Republicans will start losing statehouses irretrievably.

You understand the dynamics of a strong Third Party movement--although I suspect that that is not Donald Trump's intent; at least not if the Republican Party treats him fairly. But anyone who understands the importance of the Reagan Democrats; who understands the shifts which made a Reagan presidency possible; as well as the necessity for greater flexibility as a result of the engineered shift in demographics; will appreciate your point.

I do not consider ANY of the current GOPe candidates as serious. Even H-1b Cruz.

Given the fact that Trump is getting the most publicity on the immigration issue, should he run as an independent, there is little doubt in my mind most of the votes he would win would come at the expense of the GOP presidential nominee. The Dems can have nasty cat fights in their primaries, but once they settle on a nominee, they close ranks and circle the wagons. They always do.

We should not even care if he is a loose cannon. He is making the powers that be in the Republican Party nervous and they deserve to be.Some of them deserve a good horse whipping but I guess that’s illegal.

Trump has responded to Hillary on his Facebook page 25 minutes ago. It should be hitting the news sometime today.

Trump,

“Failing candidate Hillary Clinton, who is desperately trying to hold on to her lead in the democratic primary against Bernie Sanders, is knowingly putting out lies about my stance on illegal immigration. I said “Mexico is sending”-— I’m not knocking immigration or immigrants, but rather am very critical of the country of Mexico for sending us people that they don’t want. Likewise I am very critical of illegal immigration and the tremendous problems including crime, which it causes.

She is desperate, she is sad, and she is obviously very nervous when she has to revert to issues that have already been settled given the absolute accuracy of my statement. She speaks about “my tone” and that’s the problem with our country’s leaders. They are more worried about tone than results! It’s not about being nice-— it’s about being competent.

Hillary should spend more time producing her illegally hidden emails and less time trying to obfuscate a statement by me that is totally clear and obviously very much accepted by the public as true. I am honored, however, that she is attacking me, instead of Jeb Bush. Obviously she knows that JEB is no longer her real competition. The last person she wants to face is Donald Trump.”

Something Trump is doing is resonating with the voters. Where are these other "serious" candidates on these issues? Where is their passion and outrage? Maybe some of them should develop a "big mouth" to attract the Trump support.

You are blaming the messenger rather than the message.

It’s a real hoot to come to the forum these days and watch FReepers back up the following concerns and people with regard to a political candidate.

Washington Post
Democrat National Committee
Republican National Committee
La Raza
NBC
Macy’s
Univision
Lindsey Graham
John McCain
John Boehner
Mitch McConnell
Hillary Clinton

Yep Donald Trump is a very bad man. He has talked about:

Immigration
Trade
National Debt
Military
Obamacare
Jobs
...and a bunch of other things too.

And yep, I will agree with those FReepers in one regard. It sure was distracting.

In 1980 it was Ronald Reagan was distracting to many. Now a man is once again talking about issues that are important to me. He’s using the same terms and spouting the same reasons I do when I address them.

This man is talking about two key things amongst the many others. He sees the need to rebuild the military and reform welfare. Now there’s two things Leftists do every day.... /s

Those who dismiss Trump are doing so for reasons that aren’t all that insane. On the other hand, I would submit choosing from the same old stable of candidates that have gotten us to where were are today in this nation, isn’t all that sane.

We’ve let the political hacks hack our nation to bits.

Maybe it’s time we told them to stuff it.

Maybe that a crazy idea. The people and entities I mentioned above are certain that is true. So are a lot of FReepers.

I’m not one of them.

I’ll be damned if I’ll be counted with the people and entities I mentioned above.

Others can if they like.

Yes, playing with their head, and you never have to wait very long before Trump responds to his rivals.
