The Zionist movement in its early beginnings looked to Uganda as a possible homeland. Ultimately, the idea was rejected, as had an earlier idea of starting a Jewish homaland in Grand Island, NY. No replacement for Eretz Yisrael. We chose it. We live with our choice. The problem is Islam and the West’s pandering and appeasement to it.
Given that Uganda was already taken with no prior Jewish presence, I doubt that a new African colony would have been welcomed by the native population, right when colonialism was coming to an end. At least Israel has its own sea access for trade. So in short, I don’t think Uganda would have been less problematic.
