The gays who are “our brothers in Christ” are those who have repented and are trying to stop practicing their sinful lifestyle. Gays who are unrepentant are either not Christians and/or should be expelled from the church, just like unrepentant adulterers. See 1 Corinthians on how Paul said to deal with unrepentant sinners.
Other than that, his article is almost exactly the same talk that I have given to high school Sunday School classes. It really opens the eyes of kids who have only heard the other side. And if the government is going to be against smoking and obesity, then certainly it should be against the practice of homosexuality. That is his point, and is also my point in my talk.
