Thousands of supporters of the Confederate flag have risen up - creating an eight-mile convoy of cars, motorbikes and pick-ups all displaying the controversial symbol.

Horns blared and flags fluttered from the 1,500 vehicles taking part in the Florida Southern Pride Ride on Sunday.

Protesters against the parade fired at least six gunshots towards the convoy but no one was injured, reported wftv.

There were many Southerners who fought in the War of Aggression NOT for Slavery, but to protect their right to secede, and to be left alone.

The Confederate constitution was essentially a modified version of the US Constitution. With respect to slavery, the one exception may be the specification of slavery in territories. If the South had accepted the Corwin amendment to the US Constitution which was passed by Congress as an inducement to stay in the Union, then slavery would have been made a perpetual institution and any subsequent Constitutional amendments prohibited. This is the Constitution that would have been effect if the South had stayed in the Union.

Yeah, if you read it, you will find that the Confederate constitution is taken word for word from the US Constitution in most parts. But they made the wise decision of fixing certain clauses that have been abused.
