The Corwin amendment passed by US Congress and submitted to the states for ratification:

No amendment shall be made to the Constitution which will authorize or give to Congress the power to abolish or interfere, within any State, with the domestic institutions thereof, including that of persons held to labor or service by the laws of said State.

The US government was prepared to place slaves in a perpetual state of slavery to induce the South to stay in the Union.

and yet the confederate constitution immediately legalizes slavery. There was not a wait for decades for it to be included.

This is nothing but an American ISIS eradicating a culture that they hate. Once they strip the South of every Confederate memorial in every little southern town they’ll move on to bigger game.

They’ve already tipped their hand as to what that is, and their next cleansing campaign will be against every pre-Civil War President or historical figure that owned slaves or mistreated Indians or otherwise doesn’t live up to the commandments of 21st century political correctness.

They’re already doing this on the heels of their successful censorship of the battle flag. Activists in several cities are now waging campaigns against Andrew Jackson and even Thomas Jefferson.

Right now George Washington gets a pass because the haters realize that he’s a bridge too far. So his large slave holdings don’t count against him and he won’t be cleansed from American history. At least not yet. But once Americans get comfortable with and accept this soviet style elimination of un-persons his time will come too. And we can count on a certain little band at FR cheering the process on.
