The only relevant question left is: material or formal?

He’s destroying the Church faster than the usurper can destroy the US.

The Catholic church is the one true church founded by Jesus and the Apostles.

And there's your problem right there...

What is the percentage of priests who are gay? I’ve heard it’s 1/3 gay, 1/3 straight, and 1/3 confused.

The pope is a
Jesuit. They are confirmed Marxists. Does it surprise anyone that he isn’t a Marxist?

Gave up on the Catholic Church 50 years ago. Didn’t give up on Jesus. I do not need the pope or the Church to believe and love Jesus.

What about Benedictines? That’s what a good chunk of my family are.

“It has survived bad Popes in the past.”

More correctly, it has changed under bad popes in the past, to what you see today. It is still here in a different form.

This latest is one more - and as bad popes go, he doesn’t break into the top 10...

Is Pope Francis a Marxist Prophet? (by Fr. Robert Barron)

Short answer by Fr. Barron is probably not. However, from the discussion there, most agreed Pope Francis is a willing fool to say the least. Few thought the Pope as naïve as Fr. Barron portrayed him, to survive the church hierarchy and becoming Pope.

Ok. Now I’ve read the article twice and I don’t see it. What is the pertinence of your question to the article? Or just a chance for a go ‘round on the anti-Catholic hobby horse?

If we are in the End Times, and the evidence supporting this contention is very strong, this is not the time to be following a Pope like Pope F. IMO, he is leading the flock away from the Bible and therefore away from Jesus. His belief in man made climate change is ridiculous, he is endorsing the beliefs of his own atheist counselors, his faith in global government is very troubling.

I know it is comforting to stay in your Church, but don’t let the normalcy bias and cognitive dissonance deceive you.

I certainly don’t want to be on the side of world government in the End Times.

Being from Argentina, Pope Francis has embraced the twin heresies manufactured by the KGB to destroy the Catholic Church from the inside: 1) Liberation Theology and 2) Social Justice. Pope Francis has demonstrated he serves the evils in man and not God. Central and South America a breeding grounds for these heresies. Pope Francis must go before he does severe damage to the Church.

Honestly, MasterGunner, I think you’ve nailed it. I really don’t think it’s any more complicated than you’ve suggested. It’s just like how the political environment in Chicago spits out these far left kooks.

No, not at all. I think the Catholics confronted with homosexuality took what seemed like a practical and humane approach, but which coupled with celibacy among the priesthood has resulted in a disproportionate number of gay men in the priesthood. I believe that is the nature of the problem with the sort of top down reordering of the Church. It’s not right to blame this on the current pope, look at the circumstances surrounding his ascent.

Any group out there is going to miscalculated now and again, certainly protestants have come up with some real lulus.

It has survived bad Popes in the past. It will survive this.

Yes, but considering the usual span of time that each pope serves....and considering the rise of ISIS and the treachery of Obama, will the world survive this? A leftist pope is just the icing on the crap-cake we're being served.

I'm still a Christian, but as with you, I've given up on the Catholic Church, especially with Francis as Pope, the guy is a Marxist!

Who would have guessed I’d have the worst President of my lifetime and the worst Pope at the same time?

And both humanists. Whadda coincidence.

I was raised a Catholic and was a good little hymn singer at one point. Took the kids to Sunday school, etc.

Then I found out about 15 years ago that one of my nephews was probably molested by a priest and that one of my best friends certainly was. My friend sued. Both of their lives were horribly stunted because of that.

I could have chalked it up to "one bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch" but the more I reflected on my past experience with the RCC clergy growing up in Wisconsin in the 60s and 70s the more I realized that my parish priests and those in the local religious orders were essentially all gay. Some of them were quite open about it. A couple of them served lengthy prison sentences for molesting boys.

Even then, had the RCC had the courage to reform itself by requiring that all new ordinations, at least of parish priests, be exclusively married men if good moral character (weed out the alcoholics, drug addicts, etc.), I could have handled it. As it is, the RCC clergy has grown ever more queer and ever more openly pro-gay, pro-Gaia, pro-Socialism, and overall anti-Christ.

I'm really done with them. I have another group that I attend on Sunday mornings. I wish them well. But I fail to see what good having my name associated with Pope Francis and the Lavender-Commie Clerical Axis does for me or anybody else.

Thanks for the link. The article is very troubling.

In it is this quote by Pope Francis:

“Do we realize that that system has imposed the mentality of profit at any price, with no concern for social exclusion or the destruction of nature?”

“An unfettered pursuit of money rules. The service of the common good is left behind. Once capital becomes an idol and guides people’s decisions, once greed for money presides over the entire socioeconomic system, it ruins society, it condemns and enslaves men and women.”

The best possible spin is that the Pope is ignorant of the lives of those fortunate enough to live in free market economies. He can only think in terms of rich exploiters and poor victims. He does not understand most people are middle class. They work, support their families and pay taxes. He imagines that these people who work for a living are obsessed only with greed.

The other alternative is that he is evil and is promoting totalitarianism. He believes that people who live in freedom are bad and that they can only be controlled by a brutal police state.

"...the current pontificate is so lacking genuine Catholic character that its official messaging often gives off the unmistakable stench of a spin job deliberately crafted to deceive..."

He comes off as an intelligent, calculating Marxist. The mask is truly off now that he's publicly praised that blasphemous substitution of the Holy Cross for the hammer and sickle.
