The Enemies of Scott Walker
Weekly Standard ^ | July 17, 2015

Posted on 07/17/2015 2:10:22 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

On July 16, we saw the definitive end to one of the greatest abuses of power in recent memory. After five years, the Wisconsin supreme court finally halted the Milwaukee district attorney’s notorious “John Doe” investigation that targeted Governor Scott Walker and political allies trying to reform the state’s laws regarding fiscally ruinous public employee unions. Imagine a grand jury investigation but without the jury, leaving a prosecutor who operates secretly—in this case, the district attorney’s investigation was headed by one John Chisholm—with almost sole discretion to pursue whatever evidence he deems relevant to his investigation. (There was nominal supervision from a judge who seems to have exercised no oversight.)....

According to the Wisconsin supreme court’s ruling halting the investigation—it had previously been put on hold by state and federal courts—“as part of this dragnet, the special prosecutor also had seized wholly irrelevant information, such as retirement income statements, personal financial account information, personal letters, and family photos.” Further, “this conclusion ends the John Doe investigation because the special prosecutor’s legal theory is unsupported in either reason or law.” That bit about the investigation not being founded in “reason” is a remarkable statement coming from a panel of judges. It’s legalese for shouting “Have you no sense of decency, sir?” at the prosecutor.....

The national media were perversely unmoved by the horrors accompanying the John Doe investigation, no doubt because it cast discredit on the motives of unions, campaign finance activists, and other favored groups and distracted from the evil personified by Governor Scott Walker. And so they have largely ignored the appalling abuses.

But the rest of us should not forget the name John Chisholm or the willingness of liberal “good government” crusaders to abandon any respect for basic rights the moment they have an opportunity to go after their enemies.

… And the slew of ethics charges brought against Newt Gingrich.

Oh, I suppose you mean this BS?

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s presidential effort in waiting has made yet another questionable and anti-conservative hire, as former National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) communications director Brad Dayspring joins the pro-Walker Super PAC Unintimidated PAC.

So what? You expect anything else from the labor lobby loving media, especially Putin’s Pravda?

How about answering the point about Walker hiring the one person most responsible for leading the GOP establishment jihad against Conservative candidates in the last General Election?

Again, you can’t and won’t and your only defense is trying to change the argument.

Game, Set, Match. BTW, your Perry slip is showing.

I did not find any threads you have posted supporting your candidate.

Since writing that reply, I have been reminded by sgtyork of Gov. Perry's indictment in Texas which caused me to remember the ethics charges against Newt Gingrich.

Then I remembered the threats of prosecution against the office of the United States' attorney general and against the attorneys who hadserved in the Bush administration-an outrageous distortion of the law.

Not quite so obvious but in the long run perhaps even more intrusive is the consolidation in a bureaucracy like the EPA the power effectively to legislate, to prosecute alleged violations of its own regulations, to adjudicate those alleged violations, and to punish. This in a stroke does away entirely with the concept of separation of powers which is fundamental to judicial review. In a stroke it does away with representative democracy. In a stroke it eviscerates the reality of effective appeal: Appealing an administrative ruling is a very steep climb.

CW has been adding good information to FR for longer than I have been signed up.
I support Cruz but enjoy information on all the candidates.

Why do I need to pick one now? Especially with the debates coming up. I am just addressing the rest of the “story” and separating a little wheat from the chafe. CW has every right to shout from her own soap box, but those of us who have long memories of the establishment Ruling Class will not sit quietly while the misinformation campaign is foisted upon us just as she did the bidding with Rick Perry the last time.

If you say she deserves credibility because she has been here a long time, then that is the worst reason for accepting her boiler plate routines where she also answers herself many times right after posting before anyone has a chance to respond. I see this as a tact to drive others to click the story to see what others are saying because we all see the hit count numbers. How many times do you skip a story because nobody has answered yet?

Instead of blindly supporting anyone, it would be refreshing to see that we are far more prudent about vetting them first and always. I will cast the hairy eyeball on them all until it is time to close the convention. Character is doing the right thing when nobody is looking. Walker thinks nobody is paying attention when he starts to hire people who are well known to be enemies of conservatism by their actions and not words.

You don’t have to pick now. It is early.
You were complaining about her posting too many Walker stories...
Skip them if you don’t like them.
If you don’t have a favorite yet, perhaps you can post about something you do like.

I know it is early and that is why I don’t jump in anything with both feet. There is always the other side of the coin.

I have never opined against too many. Typically her posts are almost always slanted and incomplete. If you challenge her, then the vitriol comes out. So I challenge her to acknowledge what is obviously missing. She will never admit that she may have overlooked something or that there is the other side of the coin. That is the problem.

Her MO was identical to her postings about Rick Perry on the last cycle and I’d hoped she may have learned something from that embarrassing experience. When she started the same long before Walker announced, it was obvious to me she had not, she simple sulked away quietly when he imploded.

As I have said many times in the back and forth, I do not dislike Walker as a man and for the most part an administrator, but he does have a penchant to shoulder up with the establishment. I honestly feel he can do far better by being true to himself and publicly shun the establishment. Case in point, Trump’s coddling of them did nothing for him. When he started to go directly against them on their pet issues, wha-bam, he is an instant hit with the conservative base.

Focus on us, not the paid political hacks whose only interest is securing some kind of government appointed job.

What I like would bore everyone to tears. I am an engineer. My higher interest in politics is getting the government back in the control of us, not the crony capitalists. Get them and their corrupt politicians the hell out of my business. If I even get a whiff of any candidate coddling up to the corrupticrats and/or their support mechanisms, the Spidy-senses get tingled. My retorts are merely a response to that.

This should not be about favorites but instead the entire unvarnished truth, warts and all for all of them.

If you find a candidate without warts....please ping me.
Everyone but Trump has to raise money.

I wish you well with your vetting.
I fear the govt has so much power over our business now it will never let go of that power.
I pray I am wrong.
