The North Carolina man who responded to the South Carolina church massacre by further covering his property in the rebel flag was arrested and jailed this week on a probation violation charge, records show.
Edward Lee West, 69, is locked up in the Nash County jail in advance of an August 5 court appearance. Seen in the adjacent mug shot, West was collared Wednesday afternoon.
According to court records, a judge issued an arrest warrant for West after he failed to show up last week for a court hearing on the probation violation charge. West, whose rap sheet is brimming with weapons-related charges, is serving two years probation for a misdemeanor conviction earlier this year for “Assault Pointing Gun.”

What does the one have to do with the other? Was it the flag publicity that got him arrested? Is it a crime now to have an opinion which differs from the of the NAACP and Valerie Jarrett?
Weapons violations, in otherwords, when he defied those bogus laws that infringed his second ammendment rights, the gubmint harassed him.
Pretty sure dismantling my 10-22 and cleaning it is a weapons violation.

Just a quibble with the post ‘s title: The flag the fellow was flying was the battle flag of Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia, or in its rectangular form the confederate navy jack. The Stars and Bars was the flag of the Confederate States of America from 1861 to 1863. Few today would recognize it.

I wonder what would happen if folks started flying that flag. You could likely wear a sports coat with the true Stars and Bars patch on it to a NAACP convention and attract little notice.

Very misleading headline....the guy’s arrest had nothing to do with the flags. He’s been in and out of trouble for a long time.
I’ve been past this fellow’s house in Rocky Mount... he lives on the south side of town, with African-American neighbors for close to a mile in every direction. I don’t believe he’s been treated fairly, but on the other hand it appears that he has been attempting for years to get this kind of attention.
